At least the bracelet isn't a Royal Oak copy.

    Oh, wait.

That said, I do believe that the original Laureato (quartz?) had some of the styling cues we're pointing fingers at here to begin with...

And thus the sad reality of GP. Of course Piaget just did the same thing but they pulled it off.

Piaget did get mocked rather mercilessly for that one though, it was Patek they copied rather than AP this time around.

    Hi all,
As mentioned by others this style from GP dates back to the 70's and was GP's answer to AP's Royal Oak and the Patek Philippe Nautilus so is not really a copy of anyone else's watch at all and is just their version of a sports watch at that time. I really find it hard to understand why GP fails to get any credit for what they produce most of the time and seem so unloved by most. As they have a long history of producing in house quality movements and have made some truly great watches in their time, admittedly they have also made some not so great looking watches but then which manufacturer hasn't? Also whilst they may not have great resale value this does mean they can be acquired pre owned at some really unreal prices and IMHO can offer great value for money of course only if you happen to like a particular model or not.

Absolutely agree. I've been after my first GP for a while now (a panda 7000 or a nice 60s-70s Olimpico). They're amazing value for money.

I understand the Laureato is also a limited edition?

Paris fall 2014 i was in an AD drooling over a 1945 RG time only. Price was mid twenties. Then I checked depreciation, was horrified that I'd even contemplated and dragged my sales person over to the JLC department where over the next few days we made a great deal on this. Better than in the USA. Love GP but they have a problem in my view. (Not that JLC is a prize either). IMG_4303.JPG

    Larry S,

From where I'm sitting, that JLC looks pretty da*m fine!
    Beautiful watch.

Even my sales woman admitted to me that the JLC was a better choice/better value. She was chafing at being assigned to GP.

Thing is, it's only down to perception. GP quality is really great, in house movements etc. Perhaps they suffer in design a little over the last 20 years - I find a lot of their current range either very dressy or very ordinary (or just plain ugly in the case of some of the chronos)
