The Girard Perregaux Type XX with Valjoux 720. This is a flyback chronograph.

Are these supposedly issued or non-issued?

As far as I know these were not issued. I bought one of these from the original owner who purchased it new from a local jeweler in the late 60's.

    By the way…

I recently bought a Girard Perregaux Gyromatic 9788 TA. Unfortunately, it has been impossible to find information about this watch on the Web. I don’t know when it was manufactured, or which is the difference between the models 9788 TA and the 9788 RA. The existing information is too generic, example, Gyromatic
watches were produced between 1957 to 1965 (GP web site) and even this not seem
    to be very reliable…

As an enthusiastic collector of antique watches, I usually buy pieces from brands such as Omega, Tissot, Longines or Rolex and I had never had any problems identifying each detail of them: year of manufacture, case manufacturer, type of gold coating, if they were manufactured for the European market or American market, etc. But with this GP it’s not like that. And I want to ask you: Is there a place where I can get information about these old pieces? Do you know any group of enthusiasts who can help? Anything will be helpful.

Particularly, I am intrigued by a stamp on one side of the watch, after the number 20 which I imagine it refers to the microns of the gold plate (I guess), you can hardly distinguish this mark. I will soon upload a close-up picture where it can be seen more clearly. But if anyone has any idea about what it might be, please tell me.

    I will appreciate any comments.

I have the exact same question, i have i think the same watch Girard Perregaux Gyromatic, i wanted to know more about it, it was my dad's, specially since I wanted to know if I could appraise it to possibly sell it since i am having financial difficulties =(. I'll post some pics maybe you can distinguish a bit about it, i have not opened it yet, will do so in a few days.

What’s unique about a Type XX chronograph?

Is this functionality similar to Breguet’s version?

    Just curious.

    Your dads watch ?
    Keep it .
Hopefully the financial problems will pass, how many of us would love to have our fathers watch, maybe to pass on again.
A very meaningful possession that should not be underestimated in importance.
    Best of luck.
