Girard-Perregaux 1960’s alarm watch

Just thought I’d share another watch I recently inherited. From my research I think it is the reference 7742 early 60s version. I find it very eye catching with the bright silver dial. It is what I would consider excellent condition for the age, and the case appears to have never been over polished as the factory slight bevels are still crisp along the lugs outter edges. The alarm definitely has a unique sound and feel to it!

Fascinating watch. I’ve aways liked mechanical alarm watches. I have 2 90s versions of GP alarm watches.

I love mechanical alarm complications. this one is undoubtedly a keeper. I have a bellmatic and had a sonorous. great watches.

It looks mesmerizing although I admit I’m still not too sure exactly what I’m looking at for the most part lol.

Interesting fact I just learned, they only made 5860 watches of this reference, including all case material builds. To me that seems like a very low number as far as watches go!

And out of that 5860 how many are still alive? Even fewer I assure you.
