Gifted Vintage Omega DeVille

Hello everyone,

I was recently gifted the watch pictured above from my uncle for my college graduation. Upon receiving it, I took it in to get a fresh battery and to get the band resized. While the back of the watch was off, I asked to see the numbers printed on the inside and saw the following: 53501401 196.0316 396.1016. Based on this, I believe it is a vintage Omega DeVille w/ 18k Gold Bezel, but I do have one major concern. All of the others I see online say “Swiss Made” at the bottom of the dial. Does this mean mine may be a fake, or am I misidentifying this watch altogether? To my understanding, my uncle received it at least a couple decades ago from an old girlfriend and wore it only a couple of times before putting it away in storage where it has sat ever since.

Any help identifying this watch and possibly even giving a rough appraisal would be greatly appreciated!

Search for these numbers on the net or ask an auction house about the value and report back with your own research here for advice. Good luck !

Thank you for your response watchyouwant! When I put in those numbers I get a variety of results, but none are missing the “Swiss Made” at the bottom of the dial. Any recommendations on an auction house to reach out to?

Thanks Dmass! Now that it seems legitimate, the search is on for finding this exact watch as I am yet to come across any that are identical. May just have to bite the bullet and get a professional appraisal. Hoping to sell/trade for something a bit more modern.

I can save you a bit of trouble.

It's a stainless steel quartz watch with a gold bezel.
These aren't considered particularly collectible in the present era,
so their value in resell or trade-up isn't particularly high.
Check the "SOLD" listings on eBay for a proximate value.
