This "73" GMT has a few ghosts as it's original owner was a British marine comando and has seen action in Ireland, Borneo, Indonesia. When I managed to convince him to part with it it was a mess, the M60 had really given the GMT a hard time, no wonder it looks tired !

It looks perfect!
Thank you MaiLollo, unfortunately it has been heavily polished which was unavoidable as it was run over by three cars in 89. Notice the lume has dropped out of the 24 hr hand and there is slight water damage on the dial at 10 ( Hard to see without a 10x loupe).
Original dial and hands.
It has had a lot of tlc, almost bullet proof.
As for the M60 comment I can't verify that as my friend is in Egypt at the moment but I will follow it up , from what I can gather they were a law unto themslves in Bornio. In jungle warfare some of the rules and equipmemt goes out the window and they were working with US special forces. Who were probably not officially there , just like our SAS in Oman for 10 or so years.

It looks perfect to me! I love the GMT hand as is, and yeah the case isn't very visible so I trust you when you say it's overpolished. Dial+bezel combo looks great to me, I love worn watches much more than perfect ones 😀

When did the Royal Marines use M60's?

I have just spoken to my pal the ex marine comando, he says the gun was basically the same as the US gun for the Brits it was called the GPMG, using exactly the same amo as the US , 7.62.
The GPMG had big one advantage over the US gun and that was in the amo belt. It was self disintegrating thus avoided blockages, which the M60 (the PIG) was prone too.
There may also have been a UK modification with the barrel which was the very hard to be replace in the field after sustained fire. A spare barrel was always carried . The gunner carried two belts, one in the pig and one on his waist.
Every other member of a patrol had to carry at least one belt. A big man might carry two.

Ghosting Pepsi - '66 GMT 1675. Had it for a week, easily the best condition watch that I own.

(As suggested by another member...)

Lets see 'em

This one I attached to my re-cased MkII, picked up on ebay for nothing some years ago.

For nothing? Man, what a steal!
