I left watches in my pockets, only to be washed into broken, until I was at least seven years old. Four watches at least. Be aware!
I love this. I have a 4 month old daughter and have been on the lookout for her first watch. I think likely a swatch. the 2019 Valentines special is top of the list so far!
Purchased a Swatch for my 10 year old girl this past Christmas. Her first watch. My first was the same, at just around the same age.
Mine's a little older (23), but recently scarfed this from me...and hasn't really stopped talking about it, which I take as a good omen!
Love this! I have two daughters myself and like many kids, they enjoy dressing up like mom and dad. One day, when she was about 6, my oldest came around the corner in one of my work shirts, sunglasses, work bag slung over the shoulder, and watch on, pretending to be dad on his way to work. Completed it with making a pretend cell phone call.
I bought both of my girls their first watch for their 6th birthday. Opted for the Red Balloon series. Nothing fancy but they loved them. Especially the rotating bezel that was “just like dad’s”. Has come in handy as they go through school and learn to tell time.
Quick...send her to watch building school before she loses interest. I ordered our oldest kid unit [she was 19 at the time] to go with me to watch building school at AWCI...and the fantabulous news is...they have a designated nap time built into the syllabus...
@Mad Dog , I never met a nap I didn't like. I took a couple weekend classes at the National Assoc.of Watch and Clock Collectors. Enjoyed it immensely. But no nap time.Unless you wanted to forego lunch, which is totally unacceptable.
Yesterday evening got the “Daaaaad, what’s the difference between a Chronograph and a Chronometer?” RESULT! Spent the rest of the evening with my 15 year-old daughter explaining the differences between Seamasters, Speedmasters, Constellations and Railmasters, the differences between the casebacks and why the Globemaster belongs to the Connie family. To top things off she even went through the exercise of how to identify the age/type of a Speedmaster and why some bracelets are worth more than others. Yes she recognized the decimal bezel... you might think from the pics that she loves the Seamaster....wrong! This is her favorite:- She even fitted the NATO herself.
I gave my daughter my first Speedy on her 21st. She graduated recently and now has two items of wrist candy
