Hi again! Posted this question also in my last post but probably nobody has seen it. So, it`s original or fake? Thx!
This would be a pretty bizarre design to fake. The buckle tang is stamped from the solid, rather than bent from thick wire, which again suggests a genuine item - perhaps. Just as with the watch straps, Omega did not make these buckles - they were bought in from a variety of independent manufacturers. So we could expect a wide variety of designs, markings and finishes, too. So far I have not seen any reliable test for these buckles which would weed out the fakes.
Thx, John! The unconventional design of the buckle made me think that it could be a genuine one and made me bid to win. Has anybody seen before this particular Omega buckle design?
There are certainly dials that are quite similar to this. ulackfocus has one. I could not say for sure with this exact design. From the appearance and markings I would be inclined to think this one genuine.
Mine is a little different. What I don't like about this particular buckle in the original post is the Ω logo - looks like a late 60's / early 70's style on a buckle that was pre-1960.
It's a good'un. Probably from the mid-seventies and used with a Geneve or possibly a Dynamic. Congratulations, gatorcpa
Thanks everybody! The Seamaster arrived today and all I can say is that pics from the previous owned didn`t do justice to it. As soon as strap arrives I promise pics. Thx again!
