Only a carport here, so I can't play :-( But probably for the best, as the 2 Porsches already posted are much, much cleaner then the one I have had on a scissors lift for 3+ years now 😟

Genius. This post has me thinking that lifts are great. They give the appearance that you are actually attempting to make progress on some work and signal that you are a competent mechanic. Lifts buy you some time and can enhance image/perceptions, even if someone is just a procrastinating vehicle hoarder. I’m researching which one to buy now....

I thought that’s how they looked the day they rolled of the production line 😁

No more likes for you boy!

I’ll give up on that then.

It's a Mark Six, chassis number 11. Here is the story of the second owner

The original registration was transfered at some time. Mrs Scott-Moncrieff was kind enough to loan me photos to confirm the identity though holes particularly around the multitude of engine modifications described here. No longer in my garage though.

The connection of Six to Seven is that the Mark 8 was a Mark 6 with aerodynamic body. Mark 9 was the successor to the 8 and Eleven (no "Mark" by this time) was the successor to the 9. The first Seven was a modified Eleven, which was then productionised..

It’s all rather confusing @MRC but really very interesting. How does chassis 11 look these days ?

If fitted with vintage Lucas electrics…they were usually pushed, off the production line

I sold it some years ago to an aquaintance. Must send him an email and find out. I know he now has a Mark VI with a very prestigious racing history so perhaps he sold it on.

I have had 6 Lotuses and if you treat them right they will treat you right. 😉

If I had one on the road at the moment I'd offer a ride, with "motion discomfort" bag supplied ::stirthepot::

Thank you…would really look forward to, & appreciate that

My current ride is the descendant of the Lotus Elan…the Mx5 NC …Launch Edition with only 38k

The most fun you can have, with your trousers on…and it starts first time !

Nice. A MK4 R32 is on my list of cars to own.
Was your GTI a 1.8T or VR6?

Since we are talking about MK4's here is the garage I grew up in (my mom's)
Small, but it got the job done. Swapped a VR6 into a MK2 Jetta in there along with many other projects lol.
My old A4 and my buddies MK4.

1.8t. No idea where back up has moved the pics to.
I worked for VW during the MK4/5 era, absolutely loved the R32 when it appeared, still get a sweaty wallet when I see a minty blue 3 dr, esp with original Recaros

Edit, found one, albeit a bit moist

100 sqm garage - a small garage door in one end for the MB (and of course I want you to notice the carpet...):

In the other end a bigger garage and door (5 meters to the ceiling - the former owner had a big mobile home).

When I got the place it was just one big room but I built a small two room hobby shop for tinkering with watches and bikes:

Lovely bikes... Bianchi collector? I also notice one or two bike wheels 😉
