I was curious to see other members garage set-ups. I figured there were bound to be some nice ones.
The wife and I have been on the house-hunt - looking to get out of our 2/2 townhouse with 1 car garage.
We have found a place (we think) but it will require the addition of a garage (the idea of this alone has me frothing at the mouth).
So I thought it would be cool to see some pictures of other members garages...perhaps for some inspiration!
With that said, let's see what you got! I'll start with what I'm currently working with...

Ideally, I'd like to build something at least 24 ft x 24 ft with higher ceilings...to accommodate a 4 post lift.

    You think?

Your challenge, should you accept it, is to identify the car, motorbikes and the bicycle.

This was a few years ago, it's not as tidy  now.

Nope. There were 3 generations between this and the Seven. That does not make it a Mark 4 though.

No garage. Car free in fact for the last 6 years. Don't miss it either. Signed: ex-owner of a '65 Mustang and an Audi TT.

Closer. Here is the only Mark 3B. There were and still are two Mark 3s, but I know the current owner of this one.

Understanding 1950's Lotuses is like decoding 1960's Omegas or Heuers. Not everything that happened then seems logical now.

I’ll give up on that then. Is the bike a Moulton ?

    Wow!

One of the motos has been posted here but the bicycle was what I thought would be the hardest to work out.

Yes the bicycle is a 1983 Moulton AM7, owned from new. It has since donated a few parts to keep my 1960's Moulton SpeedSix going, and there is a lot of wear to almost irreplaceable components after 25,000km of use. Unless I want to drop a lot of money on old Suntour drivetrain parts.

Now @w154, the first production cars to be made with space-frame chassis that came out in the same year were Mercedes W194 and .....

Although I’ve drifted out of it in the last years, cycling was my real hobby from early teens through to late thirties. Never owned a Moulton but figured it would be a likely choice for a classic lotus owner.

Now the space frame question’s tough. I’d have said the 300SL but no idea really about the other. I’ll have a think about it and resist heading to google. Any clues ?

Edit: The answer’s not hiding in plain sight, is it ?

Bought it the same month as my first brand new Lotus. Still have both  Neither in working condition
Nor am I much

300SL (W196) was not Mercedes first space-frame. Its predecessor the W194 was a racing car, as was the Lotus in question, athough the Lotus was mainly sold as a road car that could be raced. I know nothing of the Mercedes' sales pitch for the W194.

BTW, although space-frames were seen as the latest and greatest in the 1950s, the Voisin brothers had made monocoque Grand Prix cars (as they all are today) in the 1920s. Wood/resin construction aka "composite".

    Mercedes? Don't think so.

I have only driven one Mercedes, a 450-something. Very, very large late 1970's sedan. I was impressed by the way it wafted along with all seats filled and kept most of the passengers asleep. Less that the suspension and brakes seemed a bit loosey-goosey with only 9k on the odo. Owner pointed out that that the odo went to 999,999 and I was a factor of 10 short in reading the mileage, so 90,000.

    Ohhh-Kayyy.

I now have 240,000 miles on one Lotus, and I still think that particular Merc really was improperly maintained!

240,000 miles on a lotus must be the record, no ?

Oh and just for the record I’m not a fan of modern Mercedes, really just the Silver Arrows era through to the fifties (and that’s in part down to the photos from Klemantaski and others). I remember my dad was a big fan of Lotus whilst he was at university (would have been mid-sixties) and even had some written correspondence with Colin Chapman. Sadly he doesn’t have any of the letters anymore,

Only a carport here, so I can't play :-( But probably for the best, as the 2 Porsches already posted are much, much cleaner then the one I have had on a scissors lift for 3+ years now ::shy::

I have seen written records that looked good to me for a Europa at 340,000 miles. The owner noted everything I do. Probably had the same attitude to proper servicing, etc, too.

Of course there are minor signs of wear...
