Nowadays it is so easy to buy junk over the Internet. Coupled with a strange urge to beat some imaginary odds, guess what happen? So, not feeling too well this week-end I stayed in front of a screen. Could not help myself, I bought not only one but two non working omegas. I'm supposed to repair those things for a living and I catch me buying this on my spare time. I ought to have my head checked. First one, this may be only a controlled risk at 480euros including shipping; in my defense I have been half-heartedly searching for a seamaster chronometer for 2 years, did not expect to stumble on it like this. Second one, less than 100 shipped, how did it happen? I mean, that was a lowball offer, it was not supposed to be accepted. (This was the only picture...) Do you gamble on ebay too? Feel free to post the results!
The first one is a lovely piece - what's inside? I'll try to dig up some photos of past eBay gambles.
Thanks. I have a special interest in these seamaster chronometers. I think they're cool looking. 35mm so nice on the wrist.
Sure! I sold one like this 2 months ago, the case is nice. But there is something in the Seamaster that I do not find in the Constellation. Maybe the logo on the back, the shape, I don't know.
A recent gamble story: https://omegaforums.net/threads/summer-doldrums.81225/ Admittedly I did keep to the $50 limit so not much at risk.
I didn't necessarily gamble on it, but I just about broke even on my redialed over polished Connie I bought a couple of years ago before I knew what to look for. I was as honest as I could be in the listing and I sold it for $770 I had $800 in it and after learning how bad it really was I was expecting $500. The new owner doesn't seem to care that the dial was refinished and the case over polished. It also paid for my fairly nice 1960 14381.
The 564 looked very good from the ouside, but was rusty inside. Lots of things can be salvaged, but most of the winding parts are too far gone. I'll have to find a 56x movement to complete this one... Won't enjoy this one anytime soon... maybe for Christmas?
