The Marie Kondo cleanout continues, this time with a brand and reference that packs a big punch for the price tag. This Gallet Multichron was originally purchased from a small auction house in an "unprepared" state, and I had it serviced a little over a year ago. Full condition report below: Dial: The white, multi-scale dial is in good shape overall, with nice aging to the lume. There is a very slight smudge on the hour counter and a minor scratch above the "5" lume marker. These flaws are hardly visible when on the wrist, but are clearly pictured in the macro shots above. Overall, a very well preserved dial. Hands: Original blued steel hands are in great condition overall and transform with a quick twitch of the wrist. The very bottom of the minute syringe hand is missing a small piece of lume, but (not to sound like a broken record) it's hardly noticeable when on the wrist. The lume has aged to a very pleasant shade of green that is observed across many of these Multichrons. Case: The 37.5mm case is in great condition and I believe it to be unpolished. All facets are well preserved and the midcase retains its original brushing with a minor assortment of surface swirls and scratches. Movement / Functionality: As you can see, the Multichron was a very high quality offering that was a staple of Gallet's lineup for decades. Beating inside of this is the Excelsior Park 40 ("EP40") movement, which is probably my favorite that I've ever interacted with. You can Google the EP40 and the terms "smooth" and "buttery" will float to the top of the page. I'll spare you additional hyperbole, but trust me...it's awesome. As I mentioned at the top of the page, I had it serviced a little over a year ago and it is functioning strongly / accurately. My friction ball is on its last legs and I wasn't able to remove the caseback, but there was no corrosion or damage when I originally purchased it. I've included a movement shot from BEFORE servicing, so the melted gasket has been cleaned. Accessories: None - the watch is being sold head only and will not be sold with the strap pictured here.
