Hi guys! I'm putting for sale a watch that I barely worn during this last year, in order to make space for new arrivals. Here for your consideration this incredible example of a very well known model, the rare Gallet Flying Officer (European name for the Flight Officer). As you can see from pics, watch condition is remarkable. Watch is in mint condition, and except for some small crazing of the original plexy, it's like new! Clamshell case is perfect, 34.5mm wide excluding crown. Dial is flawless, lume is perfect too. Movement is fully working, I don't know when the last service is. Because of the nature of the clamshell case, I am not able to open it and make pics of the movement. Watch comes with a very appealing and super hard to find riveted steel bracelet with straight endlinks, from '60s! I did my best with my camera in order to make justice of this beautiful watch. You can see other pics and a more detailed description of the item here, in the website of the american dealer that owned this Gallet some times ago. Price: I'd like to have 6500€ for this nice and rare Gallet. Bracelet, as said, and international shipments are included. UPDATE: price is now 5000€ HEAD ONLY I have tons of worldwide feedbacks here and in other platforms, you can buy with total trust. Watch and me are located in Italy. Thank you OF, thank you all! Matt
Up! I'm happy to share a more detailed description of this watch, made by Hairsrping. https://hairspring.com/finds/vintage/gallet-flying-officer-2nd-generation/
A dealer I have dealt with has one of these in his personal collection.. Trying it on was similar to meeting a collection of mint Nina and Clapton. After that I was begging him to find me one. I eventually bought a later but minty white dial from him. This particular watch in good condition is very hard to find.
Quote Produced upon specific request for the US Air Forces, this innovative timepiece was first issued exclusively to American & British pilots during WWII End Quote Any ideas if this mid-1960s version was still used by military pilots or any specific airline ?
Thanks for that reference. This watch is a beautiful model in pristine condition and I or any other collector would be lucky to acquire it for this generous price.
As is often the case, these claims get passed along from website to website, with slight changes in wording. It may be true for all I know, but it has been admittedly difficult to verify these military connections to Gallet. In any case, this is a really great example and the OP is not claiming a specific military connection, so I apologize for this distraction.
