Friend offering to sell his OMEGA SUVERÄN

Hi all,

My friend wants to get rid of a Omega Suverän that belonged to his family as he rarely wears it. See the pictures. He recently had it serviced and it seems to operate perfectly.

He told me that it had been lying on the attic for a very long time untouched.

He is asking around 450euro. I have always been really charmed by Omega and especially the older models but never had the opportunity to purchase one. I am just not sure if this is a smart buy. I would appreciate to hear what you all think? He initially wanted to sell it for much more but since he's my friend he's agreeing to sell it for a lot less.

Still I'm still a student and 450 is quite a lot of money for me so I don't want to make a big mistake.

The key question is: "Do you love it?" Not just vintage Omega watches in general, but this particular watch.

I really do! The dial face reminds me a bit of a lunar landscape and I really love the subtle design sleek design!

Go for it. You can sell it for at least the same amount if you regret.

Certainly seems like a fair price, especially since it was serviced.

In my opinion, the dial has been over-cleaned. But at this price it seems reasonable. A beautiful watch is worth buying 👍. Congratulations

Its a low price for a Suverän but the dial has almost vanished and the case looks heavy polished. Not a top example so to say, but if you like the watch its not a stupid purchase. Especially since its newly serviced and will easily run another 80 years if taken care of.

The dial probably looked something like the left one of mine:

Nice watch, go for it! Good introduction to vintage watches. It is always nice to know you got something on your wrist that might have gone through loads of great adventures, and that you'll add yours to the list!

How does the dial looks on daylight?

I would think it's going to be a good buy. Reasonable price for a vintage piece like that.
