Figured I’d hop aboard this train and see where it takes me…
A scout? Wasn't that made by IH, which I think went bankrupt... who is making it now?

Still 3 years away. A lot can happen in that amount of time. But for a refundable deposit of $100, I figured - why not?
I'm holding on to my GTI for a bit longer so timing could be about right if it (and me) can hold out.
I've been considering making the move to EV for a daily driver and since the R1T I've liked the idea of an electric truck.
But I was also very interested it their upcoming R3X which I believe was supposed to be coming out around the same time as the Scout now.
I'm not sold on the idea of making the move to EV, not by a long shot. But with manual transmissions disappearing, ICE cars in general just becoming less desirable in my opinion, it may not be so hard of a decision in the next few years.

Well they have a bit to live up to, those old Inter Scouts were good tough offroaders built like a brick shithouse!

I guess we'll see.
Right now the our touting their ruggedness at least for off-road.
Front and rear mechanical lockers with a solid rear axle.
Also, apparently 80% of the car can be serviceable by you, in your driveway.
Lots of good concepts with these...but who knows how much of that will make it to production.

Yeah they had rust issues and so did pretty much everything else but they weren't as bad as 60 series Toyota Land Cruisers those things rusted out roof first to let the water in to rust the rest of the car out!

I so love those little Alfa's and I know next to nothing about them...
Except that I think they just look fantastic.

Totaly agree!

My older brother used to take me to car dealers when they had something special in. One time it was this Alfa GTV 2 litre and I thought it was the coolest car ever, untill I saw the older Alfas like the one above. I blew my mind!

I had a 1974 105 series Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 it was a superb car to drive, I'd done a bit of head work, cams, competition exhaust etc, that car would rev way past the red line to where there were no numbers on the dial of the tacho! What magnificent music that car made! it would shread tyres going through the gears. I drove that car so hard the body started to develop cracks, my fault not the cars, so sadly it was time to part company.
I've never driven any other car car that made you feel so alive, I drive it past the local shop, a 100km up a mountain road just to buy a can of coke and drive back again.

I’m having to give up my kit car. My health isn’t what it was, and whilst she’s great fun, the driving position is hell on my legs. If anyone is willing to give her a loving home, she’s up for grabs.

Well, after years of debating what a suitable replacement for my GTI would be I finally decided there was really one choice. Another Golf lol.
The only other cars on my short list were a F/G80 M3, RS5 Sportback, Raptor or even a Model 3 Performance.
I did "reserve" one of the new Scout trucks, but that was really just for fun since it was only a $100 refundable commitment.
Anyway, the GTI has been bullet proof in the 10 years and 106,000 miles I've owned it...up until abut 6 months ago.
I was having a coolant leak which resulted in a replaced thermostat housing and water pump along with a few other "while you're there" items.
End of last week, I had another coolant leak, it ended up that a connection at the oil cooler was going bad and dripping oil down onto the new t-stat housing which caused a connection there to swell, and start leaking.
The dealer fixed that all up, but while I was there they had a white R in the showroom. We worked up a deal where everyone was happy, and the rest is history.
