Boy these weeks sure go fast!
Today a couple of quite unusual models. First up a "Gatso" from Holland, a model I certainly have never come across but quite interesting -

Secondly a very tidy GT40 recreation that has had plenty of cash splashed -

Hate to admit it but I think I might struggle getting out of this one 馃檨

Go on then I will pipe up....

Ferrari F40

So for me one of the best cars I've ever driven has to be the Ferrari F40, I was lucky enough to care for this For three years and drive it regular because the owner was always out of town

Since I was 17 I have been looking after peoples cars, this ranges from detailing, starting weekly and driving some of the best cars in the world....

This business took off and I opened an office in Monaco where I lived for 3 years and looked after the super rich's cars, helis and jets.

It was a cool job I can tell you, now I am still in automotive I broker these cars around the world as well as import a car care line for the entire Americas.

I have to pick a car today, one of my all time favorites, that would go with my new connie. The 1958-1960 Facel Vega...I know what your saying, "a French car" but take a close look. These cars were way ahead of there time with things like double wish bone suspension in the front and killer good looks. And these cars were luxurious and very fast, under the hood of the 58 was a 5.4 liter Chrysler V8. The Facel Vega has lots of prominence, many famous and powerful people owned these, Hollywood elite, Royalty, in fact Sterling Moss owned one and French writer Albert Camus died in one. Anyway some pics...

If I had to pick one car it would have to be a 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz...my Dad had one when I was a kid and it was so beautiful, so cool and glided down the road like it was on glass. In '59 it had a staggering sticker price of $7401.00!!!

Very few were made and this photo is of the only known black one still around..(photo for reference from Jalopnik.)

Thats cool that "The Chairman of The Board" owned one and so did Pablo Picasso, Hassan II King of Morocco, Ringo Starr, Tony Curtis, Dean Martin, Fred Astaire, Danny Kaye, Anthony Quinn, several Saudi Princes and The Shaw of Persia...hows that for providence!馃槑

I miss two stroke street bikes. Especially ones with an oil pump so you didn't have to worry about premix.

My latest Petrol Head punter.

I recently drove the new MK7 GTI and it's been toned down a lot, not even in the same league as my MK6 so I guess I'll hang on to this one for a bit longer.

and whats not to love about a good old fashioned ring ding..... I mean, check this "gentle commuter" out.

unless you don't like the constant dribble of oil out of the pipe joints onto the driveway, choking half way to death at traffic light because its idled to long, riding around with pockets full of sparkplugs, 20mpg on 104 octane (bit over tuned that one)......... *sigh* ...... I'd buy a new one in a minute if I could, global warming be damned!

And I'm sure there's a entire generation out there who've never enjoyed the gentle purr of a 2 stroke at full throttle, on the pipe, pulling hard. near redline.

WaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

That goes without saying. And my favorite, the smell of Motul 2T.

I don't ride on the street anymore, though. Too dangerous.

Always partial to Castrol Injector myself..... can't beat the smell of a good "mineral" oil.

Yeah the street is getting really bad, I question the sanity of riding any more, still putting 10,000km a year on though.

A few years ago, about 1999 or 2000, my doctor told me I had to lay off the bikes for good after two bouts of really nasty surgery, lower intestinal stuff, really grim.... I mothballed my machinery and walked away, it really sucked.

Lasted 10 days..... bought a Kawasaki Ninja and beat it to death over the next four years.

That was 100,000km and three bikes ago.... no issues since...... what do doctors know anyway!
