    Hey everyone

If all goes well, I'll be picking this up on Thursday, as you can see the hands aren't quite right... one of the subs is from something else, and I'm not 100% that the sweep second is as it should be.

    So there are two options:

    1) Try and make it original, if we can work out what original should look like, and the hands are available.
    2) Build a franken hands watch on purpose, channelling the spirit of late 60s/early 70's Omega chronographs.

Now I'm inclined to option two (I may be a lapsed creative, but old habits die hard).

I think the red markers on the sub seconds dial gives a good opportunity to key in some other red elements... and suspecting that the sweep seconds is incorrect for this watch, guess someone else felt the same at some point.

    So, on to my proposal...

Hour/minute hands with black hubs (like those fitted to the MK2 Racing re-issue).

Sweep second and sub second from an Alaska project re-issue:

And red sub minute hand from a Bullhead re-issue:

I think everything fits (looking at hole sizes and hand lengths), and think the reds are the same.

Nothing irreversible here... just like the idea of making something a little different... using stuff from the Omega parts bin.

Just been told I have to "stop playing watches on the internet and finish cooking lunch"... which is probably fair, given that we have family on their way!

    Will Photoshop later :)

Family is is more important!

Who knows, someday an Uncle who enjoyed your cooking may even leave you a cheap fake Omega. :p

Haha, I only have the one Uncle... and he's worn a black digital Casio for all my life!

The family Omega was my dads, which I now look after as he's in a nursing home:

He bought it new, on a blue alligator strap, and then bought the Omega mesh whilst on Honeymoon with my mum in Malta, during the early 1970s.

Last year she was 70, so I got her this little DeVille (picture post STS overhaul).

Our parents take care of us, then we them... such is the cycle of life.

Great to have a family watch stay in the family!

    BTW, what did you cook?

That's a bit heavy for a Boxing Day lunch... especially after duck for lunch, followed by Salmon for dinner on Christmas Eve, and Roast Beef on Christmas Day.

Today there shall be salad... and the new Star Wars!
