Genuine Omega Seamaster.
Dial has been redone at some stage.
Calibre 343 was a chronometer rated movement introduced in 1949.
Serial number dates it to 1950 or thereabouts.
Overall in tired condition but could be tidied up with a decent service.

Was there supposed to be a ruby in that red area in the inside of the piece. I took this to a watch shop the other day to see how authentic it was and I’m really hoping they didn’t remove it

Dial to me looks more like original than redone.

I was in two minds about this one.
Knowing how hard it is to decently re-ink hobnail dials I was going for original, but the irregular spacing/positioning of the text swung me the other way.

I realise that dial printing in the 1950s wasn't as refined as it is today, especially on textured dials, but this just looked off to me.

Awesome news, thank you. I found this with some golf attire my uncle left to me and was disregarded at some point before reaching me.

How much would a service and restoration be for this piece and would it be worth while to cherish after the fact?

Depends on where you are.
If you're in Albania it'll cost peanuts.
If you're in Zimbabwe it'll probably cost at least twenty cattle.

I can feel a thread drift coming on…
If I lived in Iceland, how many penguins would it be?

Might need continental drift instead.

I'm in Albania and can confirm it'll cost 5 peanuts.
