This one is in sad shape. As I recall it was his daily wear watch and stopped running jeweler said not worth fixing so Dad got a new Longines I got the guts... If I recall right he traded the gold case and band towards a new watch. If someone has a use let me know. 17J 22A movement S/N 8790226 I am guessing late 40's to early 50's
Use? Really? Send me a message. I have a 22A that has a warped balance plus some issues in the wheel train.
Just went and did a bit of reading, kind of surprised, it is the first bidirectional automatic watch made!! 1945 to about 1952. I would like what I have to get another up and running.
Yes, that's Longines first full rotor bi-directional automatic. There were a few others from different companies before them. Rolex developed their Perpetual self winding full rotor calibers in 1931 although I'm not sure if they wound in both directions. Eterna and IWC were also using 360˚ rotors around the same time as Longines.
