I happened across this this morning. They have a price on it of $700 USD yet know nothing about it. I asked the ref. number, they didn't know. I told them it would be inside the case back. The guy there handed me the watch and a pocket knife. I declined because I didn't want to hear "you broke/scratched it you bought it". So sorry no case back or movement pics, but does anyone have any ideas what we are looking at. I do know that the crown was probably replaced at some point and it has a cheapo Spiedel bracelet. The case looks gold(ish) but it is stainless steel. Thanks, Bob
Dial could be better, but $700 is good deal for any CHRONOMÈTRE. Should have a 30T2 RG SC movement inside, which alone is worth at least $500 in good condition.
That's a fun find. Just a tidying up would work wonders on it, even without polishing. Wonder how much they'd come off of it?
It very well may be. But with out know if the back comes off or if it is a "front loader" so as to actually see the movement, I'm not sure if I want to take the gamble. Would anyone have a pic of a similar dial to compare?
It's a bargain – even if it is the smaller of the two versions (33mm). Almost certainly correct and original, as the lugs and case backs used on those chronometres are very distinctive. It's a snap-back case, and if you are able to see a clean movement (the only real question, I'd say), buy it and walk away with a smile.
If it was me, I should go back and buy it quickly, before someone else snag it. Depending on how cool you are, you can always try to negoatiate a little, try 550 and they will most likely sell it to you for 600. Good luck!
Go buy it. Totally worth the gamble. Here's a similar one that's listed at a shamelessly high price: https://www.1stdibs.com/jewelry/wat...-chronometre-wristwatch-ref-2364/id-j_244212/
And that is the smaller one, while this one is the bigger ref. 2367 in 35.5mm based on the scale between the lug width and the case as well as the between the case back and the case.
So am I correct that since the back is a little smaller than the total case diameter it is the 2367? I am going to see about taking the back off tomorrow.
Oh thank God! It's just a rare Omega Chronometer. If I open another one of these threads and find a Deep Sea Alarm, a Space Compax, the first Autavia Chronomatic or Jimmy Hoffa's Hamilton, I'm going to plotz!
Even though I have a Seamaster from my father, this will be my first vintage purchase. Just don't want to screw the pooch so to say. We'll see what happens tomorrow. Thank you all for all the good info. Thanks again, Bob
Here's a vintage ad for the Ref. 2367: And the listing from the Omega Vintage Database: http://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/heritage/vintage-watches-database?ref=14498 Good luck and hope you get it! gatorcpa P.S. - I'm fairly certain that steel example has an original crown. Omega hadn't started using signed crowns yet.
look, if you don`t listen to all these comments here and go straight away and buy it even for $ 700, you are a fu******.....it looks like the big case in steel with original dial: focus !!!!!, man !!!!! do not talk about wrong crowns; completely uninteresting detail. get it and sell it to somebody here, who can appreciate that rare beauty. kind regards. achim
