I came into a few pocket watches and one is an omega (not working) and would love to know more and if it’s viable repair. Pictures show as much as I thought important. I love watches and the old ones would tell some stories any help greatly appreciated thanks Neil 96EFB62F-3ABB-482C-8973-F80DF4B0F48C.jpeg

As a newbie I do have a quick question. Occasionally I get the alert window while on the site. When I click on it, it disappears but I am not led to the where the alerts originate. I've clicked on my avatar and get nothing. I do find them if I go to my email. Is there another way to the alerts while on the site?

It's far from ideal. We're modifying existing software to force it to work how we want, but that means there's still some baked-in limitations to deal with unfortunately.

Don't misinterpret my comment. I thought is was a personal shortcoming of my own. I am a computing infant.

Hi @Trev

I see a constant stream of questions appearing in the forums related to why some people can’t post in the sales forums.

As I see it, the problems are:
1. People don’t understand why they can’t sell
2. People looking to buy think they can’t buy until they have 200 posts.

Usually they are badgered for not reading the sticky thread related to this issue, but maybe we could improve the “YOU HAVE INSUFFICIENT PRIVILEGES TO REPLY HERE” communication to help solve the problem.

I would suggest something like:
“You need to have contributed with 200 post to sell or comment in the sales section. To buy just send the seller a private message. Click here to read more about the rules.”

Don’t know if your platform easily allows for links in this message but even without the link I’m sure it’ll help.

Thank you very much for making OF what it is!

Best regards,
Jeppe

If you are alerting us to someone who sold you it passing it of as real. Yes
If it’s just a picture showing your watch with it. ( Say in WRUW thread ) Yes
If your starting a thread saying how good it is and promoting them and seller. No
Asking if it’s real or a fake. Yes

(Above is my interpretation of the rules)

This excerpt from Robert Fulghum's book seems appropriate for the forum's rules:

ALL I REALLY NEED TO KNOW about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in kindergarten.

"Share everything.

Play fair.

Don’t hit people.

Put things back where you found them.

Clean up your own mess.

Don’t take things that aren’t yours.

Say you’re sorry when you hurt somebody.

Wash your hands before you eat.

Flush.

Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.

Live a balanced life—learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.

Take a nap every afternoon.

When you go out into the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands, and stick together.

And then remember the Dick-and-Jane books and the first word you learned—the biggest word of all—LOOK.

And it is still true, no matter how old you are—when you go out into the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together."
