Fortis Flieger Chronograph/Chronometer Value?

Thinking of selling a few of the watches I don't wear anymore. This one I don't have any idea of its value. It's an odd one, has the normal chronograph functions with date, but also has a 24hour GMT fourth dial that can be set separately. I believe that it is a Valjoux 7750 but not sure. Running and functioning but probably could use a service. Any idea of value with box and all paperwork including the chronometer certificate?

I guess I'll keep things in one thread, another watch. Eterna Monterey GMT in nice condition with box etc.

I looked up the Fortis, cool watch- I love this era from them. Very little out there other than what you also found online I’m sure. This era of fortis is a grey period- not much web info, not a huge collector pool, Fortis is of no help (I have reached out- they are clueless about older models and parts availability is nil unless you go through an authorized center) and so many little model number changes with indistinguishable changes that it gets confusing quickly.
I bought this one within this last year on eBay (bracelet was mine). Came with box papers and haggard factory strap & buckle.

I could barely find anything about it on the web. I have seen similar ones selling in the $1.1-1.5k range- similar, but not the same. I paid $600. Did I get a deal, I don’t know- there are no comps. Am I happy with a 7750 flieger style watch by a great brand for $600, you betcha.

What is yours worth- somewhere between $600 and $2k I would guess. Where you price it and what the buyers are willing to pay is the sweet spot that without comps, is a guessing game.

As for the Eterna, that’s for someone who likes 90’s/00’s Eterna’s to answer.

Your right, not a lot of info on the Fortis, I did see a few like yours. Barley a picture of the one I have. 100m and a certified chronometer. I used to travel overseas and have several GMT world timer type watches. Now that I retired, I don't use them much at all. Might just put it up and see what the market will bear. The Eterna is a newer watch than the Fortis I believe.

Set a price you are comfortable with and post it here for sale. If no bites after a few days at your asking, drop it a bit and entertain offers. If you want a wider audience, then obviously eBay is the best bet- but then they take their 20% of flesh and you have to deal with the uncertainty of eBay buyers rather than a fellow enthusiast who you can chat with to be comfortable.

IMO, eBay is going to be your best bet for a watch like that. It's an obscure piece, so you want a lot of people to see it.

According to this link, it’s the Flieger GMT Fortis, "Chronometer", Ref. 598.22.151

Not much luck finding spot on comps, though.

But:

Review - Fortis Cosmonaut GMT Chrono 603.22.11

Not your exact watch, but a rather detailed review of what I think is the related/overlapping line (the Cosmonaut GMT line), containing the same movement - Val 7750 - and functionality/dial layout

The review is of the smaller 39mm cosmonaut version with tachy bezel, whereas given the relative position of your date window etc., I’m guessing you’re is a larger bodied version (42mm?) Flieger-type case.

Those differences noted, you’ll probably have more luck finding a few pricing comps for the cosmonaut GMT - which comps might provide some more orientation than you have presently

Can you confirm the diameter in mm's without crown, pls.? 39/40 or 42 ? And how does the GMT function works without a 24 hour bezel or is the 24 hour hand adjustable with a crown function ? To me that is only a 24 hour indicator; let you know, if it is noon or midnight.....

39mm I believe. The 24-hour dial is settable with the main crown in the first position. Definitely a GMT function, not just a noon or midnight indicator.

And btw, I believe it’s a “caller” GMT indicator, changeable alone, but also still slaved to any changes to the 12hr hand (ie I do not believe the 12hr hand can jump forward or backward without disturbing the 24hr hand)

note, btw, the OP’s watch is displaying 6:45 (AM or PM), while the 24hr dial is displaying 16:45 (or 4:45 PM)

A little late to the conversation but do you still have the Fortis Chronometer 4 sub dial for sale. I lost mine two years ago in a motorcycle crash. Been looking infrequently ever since for another! TIA.
