Interesting observations made on Saturday:
1) Vettel is missing the structure his previous Engineer offered and is maybe doing too much himself in the team, not helped by 4 team leads in 5 years.
2) Has inferred the 'R' word; other ' opportunities' and ' things round the corner/ to look forward to'....is this a result of FER applying pressure to produce wins, or someone deciding another championship is not possible and mentally preparing to move on?

Also, just spotted LEC is the face of a ' watch out for pedestrians' campaign....anyone see the SkyF1 section of him driving Natalie Pinkham around in his Ferrari and nearly running over a guy on the crossing? 馃榿馃榿馃榿馃槦

He only hit 2 cars this race...

Granted the pit was not 100% his fault... he did make it worse...

The Hamilton hit was just a matter of time.

Actually an interesting race, I鈥檓 still confused how Ricardo went from 6th to 16th on the safety car.. WTF happened there?

Ricciardo got stuck behind Kimi coming out of the pit stops. Kimi didn鈥檛 pit under safety car and was eventually lapping like 2 seconds slower than the cars in front of him.

That doesn鈥檛 loose 10 positions though. 10 cars passed him by not putting?

There were also other cars that chose not to pit during the SC. Eventually Ricciardo worked his way up to 10th and got 9th because of a Grosjean penalty.

Boooooo on the FIA.

100% agree! I am a Hamilton fan as well. Great sportsmanship by both in the closing ceremonies and interviews. Really great to see that between two of the very best.

The more we have and rely on technology the more the sporting aspect is taken away from the athletes, like the Kentucky Derby and now this. No real winner here. Hamilton will take the win but not happy about how he won.

As a Hamilton fan that was a bad call.

For the record that鈥檚 2 bad calls this weekend. Someone else got a obstruction during qualifying penalty they didn鈥檛 deserve. But it was as the rule is written.

Toto gave a very German response after the race though lol.

Phew. A controversial victory yet one deserved. Vettel chose to cut across the bow of Hamilton, nothing new here, he's a champion who will do anything in the moment to win. We've seen it before, Sebastian, in the heat of battle making a move that ultimately costs more that the move itself.

Oh well, he will learn or, maybe not, time will tell.

Number 78 and counting...

My bid take away was: WOW Toto Wolff is huge (compared to everyone else).

To quote Toto: Zee rules are zee rules

Bummer about the penalty. Loved it when he switched the signs. Probably get penalized for that, too.

No fan of Ferrari, but that was a bad call.

It's a race, not figure skating. The officials shouldn't decide the outcome.

That said, Vettel made a massive mistake under pressure. Again. No one to blame for the loss but himself.

I agree that it was a bad call by the stewards and you hate to see a win determined by a time penalty. However, as others have said, Vettel has shown a tendency to crack under pressure.

Really? If you were in Vettel's car where would you have chosen to go?

The likelihood of me behind the wheel of a F1 Ferrari dicing with Hamilton for the lead in the Canadian GP is, to be perfectly honest, slim and none. Not too many pensioners in the lineup, eh?

The point being what Vettel actually did, an extremely dangerous maneuver performed by one of the very best drivers in the World - shouldn't he know better? This is not the first time Vettel has pulled a stunt like this, he's been hauled before the disciplinary board prior to this particular incident and he'll be there again. He needs to learn to control his emotions.

The WHOLE point is Vettel did not have any choice on where to go.

The only potentially dangerous thing he did was enter the corner just like everyone else did. He had no other options. He was being pressured made a small mistake. There was no other way for him to recover from that. If he had not gotten back on the power the rear end would have forced a spin, if he had gave it more steering angle he would have spun. Even the Head of Mercedes didn't argue that. The problem is how the rule is written, which Toto pretty much admitted.
