I've been pretty much indifferent to all the talk of the rising price of cal 321 Speedmasters, DON bezels, etc; my take has been that it is what it is. But this certainly caught my attention....

    Good Golly!

When will Omega re-release #6s or DON bezels?

Pretty sure the per weight price of that end link is higher than a conflict free diamond. Just insanity out there ...

Suddenly the extra 200$ I threw in to get the 1039 with 6 endlinks doesn't seem like a bad decision......

The price for the endlinks is expensive for the 105.003 owner who needs it just about right for the 2998-1 owner who needs it and a bargain for the 2915-1 owner who needs it.

If you've got a 105.003 those modern 617s with a bit of rejigging are looking mighty attractive about now

I'm sorry but 550 euros for one endlink can never be described as a bargain.

Let's not forget these endlinks are also necessary for 14755 and 165.014 owners too. I would say they have been as good as priced out of the market now with a loose 7912 and a pair of endlinks running to +/- 50% the value of the watch.

I think it's a bargain because on a 2915-1 the difference in price with the correct #6 endlinks and 7077 bracelet might be $5kUSD. (say you charge $100k for the watch instead of $95k).

I see your point, however for me a bargain is always something that has been bought at less than its usual cost.

Bargains can also be had for value created in the future, no? Like if you paid $500 for something that usually costs $100 but ended up saving and or making you $1000, in hindsight that $500 spent was a bargain IMO.

I ' ve never paid 5 x market for something and then called it a bargain of the future.

I'm not sure of your point here. If I buy something for a bargain price then that is always under the market price.

If I pay 5 x market for something and in the future make money on it then I would call that lucky and certainly not a bargain.

I see your point about bargains but I will say that my biggest regrets are those that I didn't stretch to overpay at the time - 2915-2 (2 of them that I missed!), near mint rose gold seamaster XVI with olympic dial, black dial 18k WG excellent condition constellation, central tourbillon omega and the biggest one - a near mint rose gold cloisonne dial (observatory dial) connie. How I wish I pulled the trigger and just paid above and beyond in every single one of these instances! In hindsight they would all be bargains!

I was a relative newbie - this was probably in 2009, the asking was $50,000 and the watch was in Australia. I didn't really say no but wanted an Extract of the Archives stating the dial was original to the watch (which may not have been possible at all but I didn't know this then) and was trying to figure out how payment was going to be arranged and of course someone else got it while I was working on these details.

Don't know - lost track and even the old email exchange with the original seller.

The day I get 100k for the 2915-1 I might be tended to let it go :)

... and I also had a 2915-2 on the hook, already bought on ebay but was in switzerland and could not pay as quick as the seller wished. So I gave up. Even today I am said when I think of it ...
