I’m not a Crown acolyte by any stretch but love a good watch story. And this article in the NYT has an especially good one. I found the paperwork (and letter from the original owner) especially poignant.

Notwithstanding brand shenanigans, any watch fancier has to give it up for great history of the Rolex GMT.

Rolex will Rolex. Fan of the crown as I own a few but this story has been played out before and will again. Replace Pepsi with Coke in the article and it's the same when it was discontinued.
