The discussion about vinyl should include the quality of pre 1974 (gas crisis) records versus the flimsy flat-sounding vinyl that came after, and (as mentioned) the fact that all modern vinyl has been created using digital equipment. Some of my 60s and early 70s vinyl sounds awesome and has a depth of sound that I just don’t get with CD, etc. even using Burr Brown 20 bit or more modern 24 bit DACs…

More modern 24 bit? How long has it been since you seriously listened to a high end DAC?

Aha! Maybe that’s why the 70s reissues of my beloved 1960s Command LPs sound like crap. I’d never considered that.

A long time! I only really seriously listen to my LPs on my current system that hasn’t changed much over the last three decades, and I know full well the danger of listening to new options! $$$$$$

I rarely listen to digital music and my system has no provision for it. It's not that I think it sounds bad, I just have a lot of LPs and R2R tapes that I enjoy. My LPs are about 3k that I culled down from over 12k so what I've kept sounds extremely good and most of the tapes are original RCA 2 track from the 50s and early 60s. A very close friend of mine owns the HiFi shop I deal with and he along with my other audio friends have tried to convert me but, I've found that after about 2 hours of listening I'm jittery as if I've had multiple pots of black coffee. This occurs whether I'm listening to Spotify on an iPad or special digital downloads on the dealers $250k system. My preferred listening takes place when all is quiet, some good vinyl or tape and a wee dram of good single malt! 🤗

Actually … The cost of high res streaming has dropped precipitously. WiiM etc has been a game changer. Good DACs as well. Does not have to be huge bucks.

😀12k records is a lot!! That's getting nearly a record a day for 40 years!! Or 8000 hrs of music. You have no time for streaming . I know there are only 3k left, but even still, think you are good. Better get busy cataloguing on discogs😂

I'm jealous!

It is an Ojas bookshelf speaker kit with a professional JBL dual driver. The tweeter is in the voice coil center.

I’ve stayed at 9 Orchard in NYC a number of times and they have Ojas speakers everywhere. They sound quite fatiguing to me, but it may be the rooms they are in. They are cute though. Haven’t heard the big horns they have there. Pretty cool they have their own “radio stations” that you can pick from.
