Got the tip on this stuff about 20 years ago when I used to restore vintage mixers, guitar amps and audio gear. It is aircraft grade and works incredibly well.

Love this room. Huge rug and coffered ceiling do well to make echo insignificant as well. Will be installing a built-in for the hifi attached to the brick. that way my Linn LP12 can work with the suspended floor.

Much be a lively room with brick wall and hardwood floors
Not at all. My hardwood floor in fact acts as a giant bass trap, and speakers sounding very "full" in other rooms do sound perfect now. I guess the floor flexes slightly and absorbs energy that way.

I have CM10’s on a floating hardwood floor in below grade family room. They are on spikes and Herbie’s pucks. No more boomy. They sounded horrible before. My surround zone is also on Herbie’s and STS(subwoofer) sound isolators.

Pucks and spikes can be your best friend. I had the opposite with my old Quad 22L2’s on carpet on concrete slab in basement- sucked all the bass out and was vague and muddy. I put them on wood cutting boards on their spikes and they came to life.

The suspended floor for me is more of a problem because I listen to a lot of vinyl. It’s no problem on my Rega deck, but suspended tables will bounce like crazy. That is why I am going to make a built in so I can run my LP12 (actually both decks).

But there are always comments whenever I post a pic that this room must too live or echo like crazy. Not the case. My last house had a carpeted floor on slab and a coffered ceiling and was a bit too dead. I guess that’s the difference between an audiophile and a music lover. A dead room with tacky chairs is like a Bentley for brietling to me. I don’t want to listen to my system, I want to listen to music!

All of the changes I have made in my systems since I was in my 20’s have been to maximize musical enjoyment. I have been through it all: tubes, horns, electrostatic, big class a solid state…to me, the endgame of any audiophile is to enjoy how the music is presented (and not be chasing ghosts).

I had the same issue with footfall and suspended tables on my first and second floors (1938 house). I tried every isolation method on earth (including wall mounted shelves), and it just seemed a never ending battle.
The worst was my living room- that system now has a Technics SL110a with FR64 arm and Ortofon SPU running at 3.5 grams- I can dance in there and it won’t mistrack. Wife’s office on the second floor has a Thorens 124 with FR54 arm and my office has a Pioneer PL41 with a Benz.
I don’t run suspended tables anymore- the Linn is in storage, even my basement system (on concrete) runs a 124 w/ 12” Ortofon arm (and SPU) and a VPI.
I realized after years of trying to fight physics that my house is not kind to suspended tables, and frankly I like the lively sound of an idler or direct drive…and you really have to try to get them to skip.

My only comment would be about the missing outlet plate 😟

My Parasound power amp got hit by a power blip. Expensive to fix.

Heck with it, I said.

Got this:

https://parasound.com/hint6.php

Ho

sh!t!

Wired USB from my Mac or optical from my TV. USB is better quality than Mac->AppleTV->TV->DAC->Analog.

Yeah, HALO is expensive. I certainly do not regret this purchase. Had to reposition the speakers a bit because the HINT-6 is more accurate and direct-coupled.

Worth every bit of the $3000.

Now I have a Parasounds 2100 preamp and Stax DAC-Talent that needs new home.

This reminds me of looking inside my Bryston

Can use that thing as an arc welder.

Pair of old kliptchs that I restored with my dad.
Looks like a fun system, especially with that clean Mk2!
…a 124 w/ 12” Ortofon arm (and SPU) and a VPI.
classic! Got any pics of this setup?

Gotta stand in the next room to cue that thing up!
Outrageously good tracker- near zero distortion at first or last tracks. SPU is incredibly “colored” but that’s it character- it’s a fun cartridge. When listening to vintage pressings through the early 70’s (which are era appropriate to the cartridge) it brings a life to them unlike anything else (on parity to a Decca- yeah Tom, I know you have one).
On modern pressings it can be overly animated- a bit too much color. Hence the VPI next to it running a Benz wood- that’s for modern (70’s >) pressings.

Distortion makes things fun…and it’s cool that they still sell the SPU(or did as of a few years ago). I love my SL1200/Denon but it doesn’t give that liquidy gold coloration of a classic belt drive with a nice MC cart.
