is the blue gmt hand supposed to "lock" in place? Once set it does go round the dial with the regular hour hand but the crown does not solidly snap in. TIA
No, it is not fixed like on a Rolex GMT. You can set it anywhere, even behind the hour hand. The crown is simply rotated to move it. You don't have to pull it out (at least on the 911)
From the flightmaster instruction book.... "By turning the blue winder, set the blue hour hand at any other time (for example GMT) and at a glance you know the time in two places at once" Basically you set the GMT hand to any other time and it tracks the main hour hand
thanks all for the advice....will not pull on the crown! I guess the two months it spent in Switzerland was worth the wait
this is where we started (first pic on the way home from the post office when it got to me) case with multiple bites and nicks, left side crowns not working and blue one severely gouged. I think that it fell off once or twice before I decided to get it spruced up. this is what came back plus this stuff so the original crowns and pushers (which to be honest were beaten to rat$hit) were replaced, as was the original GMT hand. Case is "refreshed". Dial is as full of chocolaty goodness as when it came to me! Can see it through the crystal now though.
Another use for the GMT hand......center hours (see what you can think up when stuck in boring meetings) 3 hrs 50 minutes and counting......rotating bezel triangle at zero, so I guess kind of centre minutes too.
Great watch Paedipod. Love the size of the Flightmaster and the different vivid colors. It’s on my long-term To-Buy list.
