·I’ll second that @Darlinboy, I see the Elgin in particular as something with some Parisian charm and something, Syrte, you’ll look at on your wrist as a reminder of hope.

Wow, fantastic finds! Congratulations!
It takes a keen eye to spot treasures like this, so your success is partially due to luck but mostly to your experience as a serious collector 😀
Looking somewhat better after some leather TLC on the very worn strap.
Having found that replacement strap options are very few for a 14mm fixed lug watch— I prefer to revive the worn one that’s on the watch.
I think there are a few straps for fixed bars in the fleurus catalog - not a huge choice. Search for "bracelets à lamelles" 😉
I’ve ordered these before in Men’s sizes (18mm and 20mm):

Not top quality, but decent enough for lower value watches.
@Syrte, so tell me, is the Elgin running at all?
Take care,

That’s a shame. Yeah, there’s probably not enough value there to justify the cost of a full service.
If you have a hankering for a similar looking, but higher quality watch, look for one with a Hamilton with a Grade 986 or 987 movement.
I bought one of these several years ago that I gave away as a gift. Here is a write up of the service.

These early Hamiltons were one time called “American Pateks” because of the quality.
There are a couple up on eBay, but all are going to need service.

Wow, the finish on those movements is lovely.
Yes it’s a pity, I just found the golden dial mesmerizing with those beautiful blued hands, but I hope it won’t be lost for everyone.
Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. If you like the dial, hands and the case (stain may hand polish away), hunt for the same size movement on eBay- they aren’t expensive and the joy the watch will bring you is worth it- don’t get mired down in the cost- in the grand scheme, it’s the same as a nice dinner out and a bottle of wine.
And let your watchmaker take a look before you make any decisions, he may find it a simple repair.
Well since someone criticized one of my other threads because it didn’t have any pictures, I’ll post a few more from a bike ride in the city today— stopped by some street sellers still allowed to operate and I found a couple vintage ads from 1929 and 1946. Adding a bookseller from yesterday for good measure even though that’s’not where I bought the ads.

Top! Une ballade sur la Seine... I miss Paris :-( Damn Covid!
Those ads look fantastic! Great day and but it seems 😀
