Fixing a Winix Zero air purifier

So yesterday I noticed it smells, I quickly dismantled the whole thing and found the motor smells. I toke a photo and then reassembled it so I don't lose parts. And then I relaxed and started looking for a replacement motor. But I couldn't find any.

Closest one is on AliExpress. But I have no idea if it will fit and if I will be able to mount the fan blades to the motor.

Of course the damn thing also has different wiring so I will have to rearrange it's cables. It's 8P DC motor so it has like 5 wires. Which I will probably have to cut, rearrange, solder and insulate.

Sadly in my optimism of expecting the vendor to sell replacement parts, I didn't even measure it... So now I will have to disassemble again and make measurements.

Anyone here done this before? I am also wondering if those motors are fixable. This week I will be talking to a guy who fixes motors so maybe he could fix it... but the whole motor is basically encapsulated, I don't even know if it can be disassembled.

Here's the smelly motor:

I will post an update when I get the motor out completely, since I have to measure it. But listings for motors on eBay and ali don't have sizes, so it will be a shot in the dark to replace it.

Here's the update:
I finally got the motor out. Winix didn't respond at all when I emailed them about parts but now I can at least measure the dimensions and try to find a replacement. Sadly it's capsulated so I can't even try to open it.

Can the crimps not be pried apart ? a bit of persistence with a flat blade screw driver and hammer if needed to reform the crimp.

Hm, I can remove the cable probably. But the motor itself smelled while it was working. I could further diagnose if I could open the motor myself.

Weirdly enough, after not working for two weeks, now it doesn't smell at all. But I think there's a problem and it will start smelling again if I reassemble and start it.

I have 2 choices:
  • have this motor fixed(I am trying to do get the contact of a guy who does that)
  • get a replacement - no original ones are sold(and Winix didn't even respond to my email.. jerks. I even translated my query into korean with google translate 馃槀 and I checked word by word in a dictionary plus the grammar structure of the sentences, just to make sure I don't send nonsense since I obviously don't know Korean. They could have at least said they are sorry but don't sell replacements.), but apparently some on AliExpress have the same specs

Probably some assembly worker didn't properly oil the bushes or bearings, generally most electric motors of repute are super reliable or possibly the brand isn't up to the hype or claimed spec as often occurs.
Either way its a poor show when the company does not respond to customer concerns on inexplicably faulty product.

Yeah.. if I lived in Korea I would have just barged i their office with the motor and demand to buy a replacement or something if they don't respond to their email(for reference, I emailed them 12 days ago).

I think there's a law in EU that vendors have to sell replacement parts for ecology sake(not sure if it applies to air purifiers). I bought it from Amazon, so maybe I will ask there too. However I am sure it's out of warranty. I think I bought it 4 years ago or so.
