Does anyone know if these are servicable? @Archer Appriciate any advice on getting this fixed. The divers extension does not stay closed with the clasp open. Are these supposed to stay clipped in place? The big issue is the buttons on the side are not returning and the clasp does not clip closed
Not sure what watch or bracelet you are specifically referring to. The Bond era SMP’s have a clasp spring that occasionally needs replacement, and if it snaps the buttons on the clasp will open too easily. That is a different problem than the dive extension, so if you can let me know what bracelet you have I’ll try to help. Cheers, Al
Many thanks @Archer The reference is 1503/825. The main issue, as you say is a broken spring that I imagine returns the buttons on the side and keeps the buckle closed. Do you think this a serviceable part, or will it need a new buckle?
I just had my spring replaced about 2 weeks ago on my seamaster. Same clasp but different bracelet. They charged me $20 for a new spring and zero labor. Could have been a 5 dollar spring for all I know and it was 15 labor but it's worth it.
Well I ended up going to a boutique. They were very nice and fixed the problem for free, and gave me a nice cup of coffee while I waited. Top service! Well done Omega
For future reference the spring for this clasp is 085ST0055. It's very easy to change, and I've seen many watch owners do it themselves. Did they fix the dive extension? When these pop apart too easily, they can be tightened, and there are 2 methods. One is to stick a screwdriver between the two parts here at the red arrow, and give the screwdriver a twist or pry to spread the two sections apart: I'm not personally a fan of that, and I usually use a staking set to redo the small punch marks that provide the grip on these two parts: Just a light tap on each dimple is enough to tighten the extension: Cheers, Al
