We would love to read your comparison between the original Mk2 and this re-issue. Apart from the movement, that is obvious, what other diffence you feel and which is better?
Enjoy your watch in good health.
The bracelet is definitely better as one of the best bracelets I’ve seen on a watch. The micro adjustable clasp was so good I bought one for a seamaster I had.
The lume is much better but that might be because it’s newer. The dial is black but depending on the light can look a light grey to black and at sunset looks incredible. It’s hard to describe but would imagine it’s the same feeling as if you bought the original mark ii in 1969.

Great review of an uncommon Speedy. I'm going to try on one this week, hopefully. Had no idea the dial was so complex until I saw these macros.

I've been eyeing these up for a while now but got carried away buying another brand of watch, well 2 in fact ::facepalm1:: but just looked on Omega and it's showing out of stock for the racing dial, has it been discontinued and they have no stock left 😕 or they just stopped production coz they got that many other watches on the go, they're still available in AD's in the UK atm but i might have to get one if they're out of production 😀

Usually if it shows out of stock it's just that, you get a "no longer available" or similar if it's been discontinued.

Tried one on today and really liked it. It is a bit thick, but supremely solid and I loved the pusher action, and the interaction between the matte, almost subdued base dial and the ands and minute track is exceptional.

This one was priced at around 1k less than a new Speedy Pro, however, which may explain its years on the shelf.

Yeah, it's a pretty great piece. Have a line on a preowned in excellent condition and may go for that over AD-new for this one.

I might be getting a pre-owned one very soon. The seller has everything, box, cards, spare links, ect.

The big and only problem with this watch is the thickness.
Hope for a thinner reissue.

Yes it is pretty thick, but to be honest, so are a good deal of dive watches and a lot of automatic chronographs are thicker.

I like it's tank like solid feel in thickness. It's otherwise quite balanced watch with solid link bracelet. I bought one few years back and wear it in rotation with others. It has an amazingly adjustable bracelet.

Commissar, if you pull the trigger I hope you enjoy the watch as much as I do . It is my lone Omega and it’s in a rotation with Rolex , Tudor and Breitling and it receives plenty of wrist time . For me it’s definitely a keeper .

I got mine ☺️ it's so lovely, better than I expected. Used, so there are some wear marks but oh well, that's what happens when it's 35% less than a new one... Excluding tax

I’ve just ordered the Mark II reissue brand new with the black bezel. Will upload some pics once it arrives!
A question I have is that I have purchased this as a gift for my boy when he turns 18. I’ll need to store it for a few years so am I best to let it run down before storing or should I store it in a watch winder for a few years so it keeps ticking over? Thanks

Congratz on your new timepiece. I really like the more hefty looks.
Oils will dry out / change viscosity no matter what. Will need a proper service anyway. I'm sure one or the other folk here can give you a more detailed answer in regards of the technical aspects.
But why not wear it on occasion when together with your boy, take a few pics etc. This will make for good memories later.

Well that’s annoying!

I'm sorry to hear that. May I ask where you've ordered it? AD or OB? Other?
