Hi, brand new to the forum.
I just wanted to ask a couple of questions regarding an Omega Speedmaster 2541.80.00. I am going to purchase one second hand, one is being sold for £950 and the other is being sold for £1050. The difference between the watches being the first dates from 2001 where as the second is from 2006. Is it worth the extra £100?

Thank you

2541.80 is a Seamaster Pro Quartz rather than a Speedmaster, is that still the watch you're talking about?

Being 5 years younger you can save more than GBP 100 in service alone, having all other condition equal. The only factor that make 2001 better choice is if it is in much superior condition. (eg 2001 is only weekend/ seldom use watch while 2006 is daily wearer with a lot of scratch and dings)

Sorry, yes I meant the Seamaster. The more £1050 only comes instructions as "paperwork", this worries me as i would assume this means it does not come with the pictorgram card or warranty card.
£1050:

The eBay one is polished too aggressively, so don't bother with it.

The Parkers one is ok & they are very good to deal with. The first one is difficult to form a strong opinion about because there is only picture.

But do be aware that his a quartz model, so will not be attractive if you resell it. And the box and papers can be nice to have but aren't going to give the overall package extra value to compensate for the fact the watch is quartz.

If you would like a nice package of box and papers with a watch that won't lose a huge chunk of its value as soon as you buy it, the go for a mechanical watch instead. For
between £1000 and £1500/1600 you can pick up a really good mechanical Seamaster of the same age, probably with box and papers.

Here are a few examples I found with a very quick eBay search:

I haven't particularly vetted these, it's just a quick demonstration of what you can find. If you do an eBay search on "Omega Seamaster 300" you should find plenty to choose from. Also check out the sales forum here, especially George's listings.
