Nice watch as a first vintage. Can't really tell from the pic but the dial looks good and original. Now to find a correct crown for it. Congrats.

I believe the waffle dials are sought after because they are widely considered to be friggin cool looking.:)

Very correct Dan, but in layman's terms it's cause they're "bitchin"

That's East Coast vernacular. West Coast is "totally rad".

Or "totes rad" if you're, like, 16.

I take it the crown isn't correct? If so where would I source / find an original?

"Totes amaze-balls!" to complete the list of Facebook permutations.

Very nice.. love the date window at 6.

A Seamaster of that age should have a clover dial - these are still available as service replacements and can be had from major suppliers like Ofrei, Cousins UK etc. My waffle says hello:

Actually, scrap that. A quick search on Cousins UK by your case reference suggests you do have the correct crown.. they give this one:

Whereas my case reference uses the clover:

Crown is correct. Here is an advertisement that shows a similar crown:

    Hope this helps,

I love the cracking around the lugs on your leather strap.

This case reference (ref. 2627) can have both of these crowns.
It depends on the date window of the dial (trapezoid/square) and the movement (353/355) to determine the right crown.

Edit: About the movement, I´m not sure if it depends on being a 353/355 or if it´s the serial who determines it.
