First vintage watch

Hello, I'm looking to buy my first vintage watch. I recently saw an omega seamaster deville for sale for about 600 dollars. It looks awesome except for the fact that it has a red spot on the dial. I'm a watch noob. Is it worth it? Is it real? 600 dollars is a considerable ammount for me and I don't want to get scammed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Definitely a genuine SMD. Guessing the dial is original but impossible for me to say for sure from the photos provided. These gold capped monocoque cases aren’t exactly rare and that red blotch on the dial will certainly be noticeable from the wrist. In that price range - and for perhaps a little bit more, if your budget will allow - I would hold out for a better example.

Don’t buy it. The hunt is half the fun, be patient, persistent, and spend more time here learning and watching. Mark my words: if you buy this one you will focus on that damn red spot every time you look at it.

Search this forum for first time Omega watches and you'll often hear the same advice... look in the Private Sales here for the best value. Also people who sell here - if long time members - will be honest on the condition with others commenting.

If you can specify some requirements you might also get some assistance here... ie size of watch, style ect...

This watch for $350, would have been a good starter... 1949 Omega Stainless Steel Hand Wind Caliber from reputable member @X350 XJR.

Thanks for the advice. Can you explain how are transactions handled in the forum?

I had actually checked to see if the watch listed above was still available and was going to recommend it as well!

As to purchasing on the forum, it’s a straightforward transaction between two private parties. I’d spend some time searching past sales first.

I hate to disappoint, but it appears somebody already purchased that one.

If for some reason it doesn't thrill me in person once it arrives the OP can have it for the same price I paid, but obviously I hope it's a keeper.
Thanks man, but I'm looking for a golden watch. Hope the piece pleases you for many years to come, it's a beautiful watch.
