New member here that has been trolling the forums for a few months now. I found a 145.022 69-ST speedy for an amazing price(Less than the service cost). It has seen better days and it is currently in for a service(750$). I am not a collector and i plan to wear this watch. The hands and Hesalite crystal will be replaced but everything else will remain original. I told the watchmaker i do NOT want the dial touched. I want to keep the patina and the value. If i ever do sell it i will still have the original hands and crystal if needed. Original bracelet came with it as well. The watch has been away from me for 3 weeks now and i am dying to get it back. As far as i can tell everything on it is original but was in desperate need of a service. The O-rings were completely rotted. The caseback has a name engraved in it but that does not bother me at all. Anyway, if you guys see anything wrong or out of place, please let me know. Thank You.
I take one like that too for less than the cost to service! we'll be looking forward for after-service pictures!
Original 1171 bracelet, with the trapizod emblem, as well. Very nice and plenty of parts around for the 861 movement.
I was told it was for a full service and he looked at everything while i was there and said 350$ at first then upped it to 750$ when he was looking at it under a loupe. I was expecting 1000$ for what needed to get done so anything less is fine by me. If he calls and says it 999$ thats fine. Nothing yet tho. The watch runs. You got me nervous now!
I think you did very well, no need to be nervous These are the kinds of "finds" that keep us all "beating the Bushes" and looking Congrats!
I plan on keeping this watch for a long time and handing it down to my son. Unless i fall onto some serious hard times.
Nice pick up. Looks like an 'honest' watch as they say, I would love to see some after photos. The DON bezel is a nice little bonus as well. Would be nice if you could find some hands with tritium patina on them vs. superluminova.
Even if you had to spend more than the original quote for a service, you would still be in the black, compared to what most people spend these days. Did it come from an estate sale? Congrats on a great score!
I m not so experienced as other on this reference but think i would have strumble on such sweet deal , correct bracelet..a good watchmaker will give a second life to this attractive pieve. Waiting pcts after spa care
Not trying to make you nervous - as others have pointed out you got a great deal, so you will be fine regardless. Was just curious what parts would be included in that and to what level the movement will be brought back to. In general many of the visibly corroded parts can be cleaned up functionally, if not cosmetically. Wheels are generally not too expensive. However a new balance would be a bit of a killer if it were needed...
Watchmaker said the movement is working fine and he will have it for me tomorrow. I'm not too happy with the lvl of Communication during this process. Is that normal? To never call the guy who's watch you are working on? Anyway, I have high expectations and I hope I am not disappointed. I'm more nervous that a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs
It came from a guy on Facebook. Oddly enough, I didn't trust him at first so we talked over the course of a week and he doesn't live far from me. It must have meant to be in my life!
