Hi everyone,

Just won my first vintage Omega on auction, an Omega Seamaster Jumbo with a beautiful salmon dial. Ref 2938- 3 SC, cal.284. I got it for $715!

It just showed up as an auction and I pulled the trigger due to the fact that I love the patina on the dial. However, as a newbie when it comes to vintage Omegas, I am hoping that I did not miss anything substantial. I am aware that more research before would have been preferred, but it was a spur of the moment kind of thing.

What do you guys think? is it an OK price for the watch, and do you think it looks to be in good condition? Also, what colour on the strap do you think would go nicely with the dial? I am liking the look of a black leather strap with it, but am having a hard time finding photos of other salmon dials with differently coloured straps.

Greetings and welcome!

With the watch in hand, I suggest you read this thread carefully regarding how to evaluate a vintage watch. It is very educational and discusses all aspects of the watch, inside and out including patina.

Maybe after reading, post your assessment and further questions.

If you use a black strap. It becomes more of a dressier styled watch

On a medium brown strap. You have a casual watch
