I have been an avid reader of this forum and a long time watch collector, but late to the UG game. I've been watching for the last couple of years and of course now I am kicking myself for not joining the club earlier. I have been a watch collector for years, for the love of it not the "investment" - though it is nice when they hold value or go up (like UG did). I buy what I like. Anyway, I would appreciate your comments on this tri-compax, and I may post a couple of more. Researching the Sala book, other examples on the forum, and the auction sites, most appears correct to me. Thanks in advance for any help.
Relume hands, Crown is a replacement but I am not that picky with it.... Else, looks like a nice watch
It seems a ref 22279. The day indicator hand looks wrong (should be red). The chronograph hands (hour and second) don't seem to reset properly (may need a service) It has some flaws but it's a nice watch. What's the asking price?
My 22242- As a reference. This watch is well validated in this forum. To me you have a solid watch there despite the re-lume. Mine has engraving on the back and a replaced crown. It was not cheap but a good Tri-Compax entry point for me.
Thanks all...it's high $8,500 but that's what I get for kicking tires for the last couple of years...plus I had spent a few bucks at once on watches and needed a break!
Another...more money, and I do like the Arabic numerials on the other better, but I like this one also
The case back is stamped 22242, serial number a little rubbed polished, but visible. ref number pretty crisp, slight rub
Not yet, sent him the questions that I had and may drive over to handle it. I can def. live with the crown & blue vs red hand
I don't know what future will bring but in today market, and for that price, i would expect a perfect example. IMO that's not the case here
