Very nice, looks perfectly broken in but not abused in any way- just like they should be. Enjoy it! Now start researching your next one ::stirthepot::

Is it weird I keep putting it to my ear to listen to the ticking? It’s quite soothing..

The idea was that this was going to be my one (good) watch collection alongside my cheap little accurist quartz watches that I’ve always worn. Let’s see how long that principle holds..

if you're goal was to be a one-and -done, you may want to wipe you browsing history and forget this forum all together, we are a bunch of enablers.

Fantastic first piece!

definitely wear it daily and enjoy it - it’ll become your trusty friend for your daily duties.

I own a variety of watches and I always have a deep bond with my 2254 when I put it on my wrist.

Do not worry about scratches etc - just enjoy it. You can always have it polished and cleaned further down the line.

I read you.
Such a beautiful time piece!!! Yours is enough watch to survive all normal life activities, a whole life long, if properly serviced, resisting even more that you can resist.

As a one watch man, there is a lot of cool things that you can do on OF, like learning about the mechanical inner life of it, how to improve the accuracy through self regulation, changing straps, posting wristshots and lume shots, learning about the history of your PO, and a lot more to discover. We are not just enablers.

Welcome to OF and congrats to your gorgeous PO.

Wow - been wearing it all morning and I’m really, really pleased. Not a modicum of buyers remorse thus far (but clearly very much in the honeymoon period).

I never really was a watch guy - it was watching Mad Men many moons ago that made me interested in the black dial watch Don Draper wore, which lead me to Omega and Seamasters. After thinking one of those would be cool, I started to look into it, and down the rabbit hole I went.
Learning about Omega’s heritage and technological philosophies made me warm to the brand, so after some brief thoughts about getting a new UK designed Swiss made watch, ultimately investing in something with more of a history was very appealing. Ultimately I thought going into the proper vintage market as a newbie was a bit high risk so I started to look at new Deville’s (being cheaper) and tried on (and loved) a new Speedmaster Pro. But £4k on a first watch just felt a little too much. I’m not really grabbed by the aesthetic of the new 300M models as I prefer a more understated look, but I really fancied a Seamaster in a tool watch form (as opposed to the Aqua Terra).
Hours of internet research led to the 2201.50 as being, on paper, my ideal watch. Moderate sized, relatively thin aluminium bezel, co-axial, nice classic styling which I don’t think will age too badly - and one made in the year my son was born, which he may appreciate (one day!). It will be nice to have a proper heirloom within the family for the first time.
Terrifying buying over the ‘net without seeing but this far it seems to be ok. Sometimes things work out!
Cheers

Great watch, congratulations. However, as the title of your post says "First...." that implies there WILL be more coming (subconsciously you must have written that), despite the idea of having one good watch (then, the title would be "My first AND ONLY....". Anyways, wear it in good health do keep your eyes open! 😀

Pretty sure this is the same model as worn by James Bond (well, Daniel Craig) in 'Quantum of Solace'. Grab yourself a copy of the film and do some watch spotting. If I recall there is a scene where the watch dial is briefly shown up close (albeit not quite so gratuitously as it was for the shot of the next generation PO worn for Skyfall in the pre-title sequence).

Super chuffed! It’s arrived, well packaged and thus far seems to be lovely. Unbelievably his wrist must be the same size as mine as it fits perfectly - lucky as there were no spare links. Few little dings and scratches on the case and bracelet commensurate with its age and regular use - which interestingly in real life feel much less of an issue then they do on zoomed-in photos from the internet. Serial number on the case matches that on the cards and the product number on the packaging matches the receipts, which all seem to be in keeping with the stated age - so as far as I can tell, without taking the back off and discovering a battery and Casio movement, it seems to be an honest watch. Was planning on getting it polished but actually I think I like the fact it has some life scars - will make me less scared of it.
I’ll send it in for a service and hope no major issues appear but thus far I am really excited. Even the wife approves. Yay!

awesome first piece. One of the best watches Omega has made in the past 20 years in my mind.
They have so many classic nods but aren’t faking vintage.

These are truly future classics. At some point a lot of us are going to be pissed we didn’t pick one up already.

Congrats!!!

Excellent choice for a first pick. Mine ran reliably for several years without any problems.
