Hi all! I've been a member on WuS for a little while, but I've migrated over here because I have run into a strange circumstance I can't yet get to the bottom of. I'm hoping the experts can help!

I purchased a 1589/858 bracelet to go with my PO 8500 (originally bought on rubber strap) from an eBay seller. Their pictures looked legit and feedback was good so I went for it (it's a small, non-AD jeweler and they had a few in stock at a cheap price- some scratches but in great condition).

The bracelet I received appears to be completely authentic (I even brought it to an AD today and they said so as well). However, there is a very strange detail: the logo on the clasp appears to be in the wrong place. The pushers should be above the logo, but on mine they are below. The reference number, finish, and all other details seem 100% authentic to me, so I can't figure this out other than: 1) Omega made a mistake that got by QC, or 2) everything is real except the cover to the clasp? I'm grasping at straws at this point so any info would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Your bracelet looks good. Here's mine (for 45mm PO caliber 8500).

Just to clarify....the Omega logo on the outside of the clasp on my bracelet is below the push buttons....I thought you were talking about the small Omega logo inside the clasp.

It's an eBay special. AKA counterfeit.

Omega would never make a stupid mistake such as printing the logo upside down.

Also, have you tried fitting this on an actual PO? These eBay fakes are known to either not fit at all or have a huge gap between the case and end link.

Also, that hidden divers extension on the third pic is the biggest sign that it is fake. Very common on eBay replicas, which didn't get the memo that the 1589/868 clasp doesn't come with one.

100% fake. No exceptions.
You're 100% right, the Omega 1589/868 doesn't come with a diver's extension since there's no such thing as a 1589/868👍

But for real I remember the 1589/858 bracelet coming with an extension, although the design is different than the one shown in the OP's pic. An authentic diver's extension central prong that connects to the clasp link is a single solid piece, like so:

While the one shown in the pic has a machined gap

Might need some confirmation from someone that has this bracelet in hand.

Thanks for these helpful replies. I was able to send it back and am waiting on a refund. In the meantime I got the real thing direct from Omega. Amazingly, the "fake" really looked genuine, and I'm still convinced the whole bracelet was a knock off. Maybe just the clasp. The 1589/858 definitely has the dive extension, and on the upside down one I had it looked totally real. The thing that gave it away is the way the edges of the clasp are finished. On the authentic clasp, they are slanted dramatically in a way you can see looking dead on. The fake has nearly straight edges. Quite an adventure! Lesson learned...

Maybe a prototype..? 😀 Then the guys at Omega figured that the logo would be better off the other way around..

1589/858 most certainly does come with a diver's extension...so not a sure sign of a fake at all actually.
