@phatcatkev another thing to keep in mind are the watch hands.
Hopefully you've already handled both watches. What I'm getting at is that for some of us the steel hands on the FOIS are less legible than the white hands of the professional.
Honestly one of the deal breakers of the FOIS to me was the uneven lume. Angled on the hour and straight on the minute hand.
Just food for thought, since you asked...

And if we are being nit-picky I personally can't stand the alpha hand on the seconds sub dial while the others are baton.

You might note that all of the time-only hands match each other and all of the chronograph hands match each other.

They do as well on the Pro. As a matter of fact, they all match 馃槈

Noted. Still don't like it lol.

@VetPsychWars , for the record, I hadn't really noticed that till you pointed it out.
Always wondered what the intention was...

I just went thru this and when I saw them in person at the AD, side by side , FOIS was the winner.

I had a speedy years ago and flipped it. Revisited the issue again and the FOIS had everything for me - alpha hands, no crown guard, straight lugs, applied logo. for me a little more dressier.

I like the vintage vibe with modern technology. My other is a seamaster 300 mc

I am swapping the sub dial hands to the white leaf hands and lollipop for the chrono. Anxious to get it back

Dealing the hands on the speedy or on the sea master?

The choice of speedy pro or FOIS.

Swapping hands on the FOIS, I wanted something a little different

I did try the hesalite and plan on getting one at SOMEPOINT.

to be completely honest, I鈥檓 just a tad bit afraid of the durability vs Sapphire.
Don鈥檛 worry about that.
Hesalite is strong as well is not a cheap plastic cup from Macdonalds...
And the scratches go away easy...
so if that鈥檚 your main concern don鈥檛 worry

Agree. I don't mind the sapphire on the FOIS tbh - although I'd like a Pro with hesalite in the future to balance the force.
I've got a few vintage pieces with hesalite and they are absolutely no problem - the original crystal in the Seamaster in my avatar is still going strong and if anything it gives you the option of being able to polish them up if needed.

Obviously don鈥檛 know you well. But I feel like you鈥檇 like the sapphire better given the Apple Watch comment. However I will always stick with recommendation for the acrylic.

So a little update. There was a FOIS for sale locally. I messaged the guy and he was willing to let it go for $3k. At that price, the decision was made which route I was going to go - FOIS. He was traveling and was just able to send me pictures this morning. Unfortunately, the watch was not as described. In the listing he said he wore it 10 times. The lugs were super scratched and had a couple nicks on the bezel.

If it sounds too good to be true...it probably is. I am not crying, you're crying.

Back on the hunt..

Some people are continual disasters. This might have been true!
