First Omega Incoming, Pic!

Just picked up a new Seamaster Professional 300 last week and wore it for the 3rd day today (wore my sub for the weekend) and I have absolutely been loving it! However, I do have some questions below:

1. First two days was within specs (+3 spd) for both days. However during the last 24 hours, the watch gained about +7 spd. Has any of you experienced something like this with this particular movement/model? Should I observe it for a few weeks or send it to my AD right away? My sub has been pretty spot on ever since I got it at about +2 spd, so I thought this was a bit concerning.

2. As I was putting the watch away today, I was resetting the time to see how much it gains for tomorrow. For some reason I thought about winding it after wearing it for the day (not my best idea). As I was winding, the rotor was moving along with it. Is this normal? Is it possible that I have overwound the watch?

Thanks guys!

Don't worry, be happy...

It's a new piece, let it work itself in.

Congrats, it's a lovely watch.

Is it common for the rotor to spin with winding after the watch is fully wound?

Yes.

Enjoy the new toy. Let it settle in and build its character 😀

Haha I’m afraid it already has. As I was admiring it today, I noticed a few scratches 😵‍💫. It was only a matter of time I guess. 🤦

Great watch, enjoy! A year ago I didn’t like it at all but it’s been growing on me constantly. I might have to try one on this weekend...

I really like your new watch. In fact, I like it so much I bought one last month. 😉

I haven't checked accuracy on mine. Just wearing it and observing that it's keeping time reasonably well. Just checked and after 5 weeks it's 75 seconds faster than my mobile phone. Good enough for me.

Looks great on you. Enjoy!

Mine's shown below.

Beautiful! I gotta get me one of those rubber straps! Does your rotor also spin with winding after it’s fully wound?

I tried it with my Hamilton Khaki Automatic and it seems to do the same thing once the watch is fully wound and I continue to wind it.
Yeah, that previous thread was describing the rotor moving when winding under normal need-to-wind circumstances, not just when "overwinding."

I let my watch wind itself with the rotor. It has been my daily watch since I bought it. The only manual wind so far on this thing was done at the Omega boutique. I have had no need to wind it manually.

And you'll have to forgive me, but I'd rather not run a test to see if I can break my watch. 😉

My guess is that yours is fine, and that you simply shouldn't overwind it. If the rotor moves when winding from low power, then you should heed the advice from the other thread.

Again, awesome watch!

And I highly recommend the rubber strap. Super comfortable, and quite sporty looking. 👍

Had mine about 3/4 weeks now and is worn daily. So far its been keeping great time but I'm not super anal about checking it.

Rubber is awesome...

It's regardless of your queries but
As far as I know, habitually frequent hand-winding to an automatic watch will affect the gear inside in conjuction with a crown and bring about a gradual worn out since it's not specifically designed for it.

That's one amazing piece BTW.

Beautiful piece! Enjoy it. It will settle in and as I do with my watches, you will “bond” with it...no pun intended. Well maybe there was a pun intended but it was a bad one.

Congrats it looks spot on

Don't worry about anything you said.

You can't overwind these automatic watches. And yes there is a lot of variance in time keeping. All of mine adjust all the time. Providing they stay within +- 10 you are all good. Forget about the official specs. You will like end up averaging out -3 to +5 p/d

P.s. once an automatic watch has been wound and worn, you have no reason to wind it. Just wear it and all will be good.
