Really like what i see posted here, a soleil like dial and some old radium lume indices ( like the 57 Trilogy ? ) The first new release in a long time that is tempting me.

Pretty much as expected. Looks good, hopefully with no milky ring. Now people will be asking, "Does that bracelet fit the Trilogy Speedmaster? Or other 19mm lug versions"

This is a real alternative to those that want a little smaller, guard free style watch and don't need a sapphire back. Not exactly a bargain at US$7,900 though, that's $900 (+12.9%) more than the plain back 3861 standard release, but you do get a sapphire crystal with this new one.
I have a sneaking suspicion that the bracelet which comes with this new model won't fit the original FOIS. I just looked up the specs on both and it appears that the original FOIS has a lug-to-lug of 47mm whilst the new one is 48mm.

So for me it’s not enough to buy another Speedmaster.

LEs where the carrot to buying another two Speedmasters after buying a standard moonwatch 1861
Speedy Tuesday 1 was at least enough difference to be worth spending $$s

Then if you had 1 you needed 2

Enough difference to again to spend $$s

This should be a solid seller for Omega, and a viable option for buyers looking at either a hesalite or sapphire sandwich model. It is a much simpler looking case and bracelet which will appeal to many. A solid back may hold back some people who want to ogle 'the goods', for $100 more they can get that in the 42mm case model. From my own perspective I've learned I just don't like Speedmasters with Alpha or Broad Arrow hands, that's just personal preference, so that rules this one out for me, plus I already have the 321 Ed White. But Omega did well here, these newer designs with the 3861 are really better looking watches than the Rolex Daytona, at a lot less money. And generally available with no game playing required.

Looks fantastic, it’s going to make people realise what a great deal the old FOIS currently is on the used market so I’d grab one of those sooner rather than later if you’re in the market.

I also much prefer this periodic release of watches during the year over everything in one bit at Baselworld.

I wonder how many first time perspective speedy owners will gravitate towards this vs. the Pro. My inclination is for non-die hard enthusiast, they may still prefer the Pro since it has been marketed much longer as "The" speedmaster certified for EVA, etc.

But having a smaller size is very appealing, my wife actually got the previous FOIS due to sizing constraints, so who knows...

All I know is this is a great edition even with the fauxtina (which I enjoy) and that dial is the real winner. Will it sway folks we have the previous FOIS and EW to own? mmm that is a question I am asking myself

I like it, but I think I like my white one more. And I still want a Snoopy....

I like it. I’d trade my original FOIS for it pretty quickly.

Just seen in the flesh. It is lovely and I think Omega have done a great job. Very viable option for a smaller case alternate to the pro. Dial is lovely although hard to see properly under boutique lighting. Patina actually didn’t bother me too much I think as it works well with the dial colour and is quite limited (compared to say my NTTD). Flat link is great too. I won’t go there as I already have the 321 but I can definitely see this being a big seller for those that don’t or don’t want to pay double the price.

Oh and the doomed crystal is very cool. Quite obvious next to the flat one on my FOiS. Difficult to photo and not get loads of reflections though

First impressions are it's really nice.

The 3861 in this fits a niche for all the folks who have a bucket full of 1861s and 861s and couldn't justify getting a new moonwatch. This may tempt some of the holdouts.

7500 is still real money but it is a classy build and cheap compared to other comparable brands.

Eve Eve
just like i was afraid of, i am really digging this release...
love the new case finish (like the EdWhite), the dial, old logo, aluminium bezel, bigger crown, smooth caseback.
one thing they could have improved are the flat looking alpha hands. this is something that i somehow dislike on the first FOIS reedition.

Another factor that i prefer about the previous version though is the good old 1861 movement.

price wise, is a lot of cash, but i think its fair, especially they offer it slightly cheaper on leather strap.

I'm in agreement about the alpha hands. Particularly, in lower light conditions they were difficult to discern readily. To the degree, that four years ago I wished to switch out the alpha style hands for the baton style to enhance readability in the cockpit. What I didn't expect (it was suggested, and I went with it) was converting that first FOiS to something unique.

The second watch from the left is my original FOiS with an actual Omega parts sourced Ed White dial and hands, crown/tube and pushers, and a hesalite conversion from the original sapphire. I love it. And, since I'm on the list at my preferred AD for the new 2024 FOiS version, I'm hoping its fauxtina is similar to the Ed White dial (which I do like).

Lastly, are all Omega mesh bracelets (including the Ti version on the X-33). The 19mm Omega mesh fits the old FOiS and I'm guessing it'll will work fine with the new FOiS too. The 4th watch from the left, is the 20mm version Omega mesh, installed on a restored '68 145.012 with a 321 movement. I have a 50th anniversary Omega bracelet for that watch too.

I'm seeing these all over reddit. Seems like Omega delivered something that people really wanted. If I had a smaller wrist size and was shopping for my first speedy, I think this would make me think twice about getting a standard moonwatch.

Probably also has to do with a lot of ppl waiting for an EW321 and this is replacing that for ppl because they’re tired of waiting
