Hey guys! Buying my first omega watch. Looking at getting the speedmaster racing. Found it at an authorized dealer for 4,000 but I also see it on amazon and authenticwatches.com for around 3,000. I understand that when u buy it online you don't get the warranty and they are usually grey market watches. Wanted to know if it is worth it? Or should I pay the extra for the warranty and satisfaction of knowing it's authentic. Please help me out and share experiences!!

The ones on Amazon/authenticwatches are authentic, but I think you are right on warranty - the warranty is with Amazon/authenticwatches not with Omega itself. Have you messaged @Kringkily he might be able to help you out.

If it's an Omega, George can get it.
As for AD vs Grey Market, If you can save $1,000 on a brand new piece you'd be better off saving the dough, and if it ever goes haywire either have the watch fixed via the grey market warranty or pay for a very good wachmaker. As long as the piece is not a complete lemon you should be able to do two whole overhauls for that amount of savings, and ONLY in the event that it's very badly broken.
    But that's just my $.02

Or you could do what I did, I went into my AD a couple of times with the full intention of buying it from them and obtaining a sensible discount. Guess what my patience and charm won the day and I got the discount I wanted. They didn't match the grey dealers on price but came damn close. I only did this because I've had two new omegas in the past with issues that only omega themselves could rectify.

That's probably the best tactic to take in the OP's current station; given that the piece is not a limited edition patience with a constant presence will pay off in the end.

I've dealt with the seller - good guy.

Your right, the white with yellow is the only one I like.

ADs can discount and come close or beat the grey marketers. But you have to ask! This way you get the right docs.. The omega boutique will only charge full boat.

Congrats mate, very solid piece, 7750 based so its going to be an accurate and reliable timepiece. Looks great too!

Any plans for your next piece? :)

Got it at an AD a little more than a grey market costs, but it was my first and wanted to play it safe this time.
