This discussion reminds me of one of my initial questions after getting my MkIII actually in hand and seeing the pristine bevels.....how could a Watch, having not seen much “action” have replacement sub dial hands AND pristine screw heads, AND pivots all nice and shiny and unworn?

Well, Zenith May have had a broad/liberal policy on replacements since some/most/all original tubes had workmanship issues or maybe a dealer or two replaced them for their stock only out of purity of heart and traditional honor. We’re only talking about 3-4000 made, so an allotment couldn’t have been too many one would think.

But, also...... it’s not unheard of for manufacturers to use what parts you have to get another unit out the door, especially with bankruptcy nipping at your heels.

    Sniff sniff.........

Ahhhhhhhhh, is that fresh baked rationalization I smell or the scent of new knowledge uncovered?

    Fun either way.

And excites maybe 100 people worldwide.

Keeps me off the streets and, mostly, out of too much mischief.::book::

It´s a stunning A386. I cannot judge if the crown is original to the watch (as Bill said, time will tell) but I would love to have this in my collection at any moment. Paying almost 2k for the correct crown is ... feeling like a Rolex collector for a moment.

Still not a collector here, Bill...I consider myself what @Jones in LA has termed and considers himself...an "enthusiastic watch wearer".

I would say that I've been an enthusiastic watch wearer for about 3 years.

I don’t consider myself a collector either, just wearing and buying what I like. And Let us not get to whose button is bigger path (the world had enough of that, and I am sorry if I interpret the direction of the question wrongly).

It doesn't mean much, it's been up for sale for several months and has not sold yet.
    I'd say it's just a delusional seller
