It seems to be the first Hodinkee product sold under its listing value. I think Hodinkee, for most of their limited watches, do a good designing job with the brands to renew some existing models, so I am also a little surprised to see the price is falling.
lol! at the movement. What is that finish – Côtes de Varicella? Also, would someone like to explain to me how the winning bid was $6,766.66? I mean, WTF? Did the underbidder bid $6,766.65?
Currency conversion I think, somebody may have put a round bid in another currency for another ebay (.de, . fr ...) for ex.
The second-highest bidder bid a top bid of $6,666.66 and the eBay minimum increment at this price level (any price > $5K) is $100. (Bids are herePurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network.)
Because the previous bid was $6,666.66 (Satan x 2), so the next bid was $100 more. Frankly, I never could see why so many people fall for the Hodinkee schtick. They are almost like Apple, there are people who will buy anything with the right name on it.
My guess is that the underbidder was of Chinese origin. The Chinese consider 6 to be a lucky number, hence the $6666.66 bid.
I like Hermes in general and don't mind the dial etc but I'd be out around the $1,500 mark... their ties and belts are better.
That’s what I was thinking. You could purchase scores of SG watches w/ a waaaaaaay better movement for 1200 or less and spend the rest on a real watch. Or, ties? I dig that I’ve become a watch snob
Not sure I understand the negativity towards the movement. It’s a 2.6mm thick, micro rotor automatic. Nothing to sneeze at in my book. The watch itself is only 9mm thick. I guess Omega’s latest trend of designing thick watches is winning the day.
First time I’ve seen this watch and I thought the rotor was a rachet wheel - those pics stink lol Ok - so it’s better than I thought but still not worth ~7800 (IMO only).
Yea but if you wanted something really thin and were willing to pay good money you've got many better options like JLC's Master Ultra Thins that are thinner, cheaper and better.
About $1k more than what this eBay auction sold for. https://shop.hodinkee.com/products/...-marketing-lp-timeonly&variant=13607431110731
Seller was in such a rush to print money, they forgot that a quilted bedspread and poorly lit iPhone photos do not, a wealthy man make.
