Ok, I have been looking at these watch rolls on Hodinkee ($120-$145) and thinking to myself it can't be that hard to make one of these. So I went the local home goods store (Kmart) looking for material. No loose material but I did find place mats ($3 ea). A nice soft canvas in a pleasant beige color.
I got the wife's sewing machine out and had her thread it for me. The threading of the sewing machine is beyond my mechanical ability, even though I can do a brake job or change a timing belt on my car.
So about an hour later and this is what I came up with. 3 faux suede lined pockets. Still needs a tie, but not bad. The next one will be a little more polished and I think I will go for four pockets!.

That's what my wife said when she saw how much the Hodinkee rolls are.

That looks nice! The prices for those roles are ridiculous. More understandable for leather, but not for fabric.

@kingsrider did the same last week. Was looking at leather pouches and rolls and thought it couldn't be that hard! Yours looks great, and there's nothing better than using something you've grafted yourself.

Mine can only take one watch so it's good for a weekend away, I made it with bracelet watches in mind so there is no rubbing. Pretty happy with how it came out!

I like the pin holes/nipples to keep it closed on yours. I caved and impulse bought a two watch carrying case while holiday shopping today.

A few quid off eBay for a pack of studs and a belt punch! I'm working on a similar two watch roll so my speedy pro or can sit opposite it, will let you know how it goes...

I just finished my second travel roll. I got 5 compartments and a spring bar tool slot this time.
I gave my first one to my dad for Christmas. I should have taken a picture when my kids told him I did the sewing.
