Finding a new case for a watch

Hello, I want to take a shot at repairing an Omega watch I found on ebay. The watch, Electronic f300 reference 198.0045, comes without the case, but I really like the look of it and would like to repair it. Do any of you know where I can find a new original case?
Thanks.

So you basically bought a movement and a dial? How do you know it is a 198.0045?

Didn't yet buy it, but it is a movement, dial and hands. I know it's a 198.0045 because I searched online and found the same dial, hands and movement and it was with this reference.

This is an 0045, maybe they scrapped the case if it was gold but there may be steel versions too. I wouldn't be surprised if that dial is used on other models. What you have there in essence is a spare movement and dial. The chance of you finding a case is very low indeed. There is a slim chance the dial is gold too, but usually there would be marks if that were the case.

The dial is blue so I believe the case was steel. Do you think I should search for a case or just give up on that watch and find some other watch instead?

There is no particular place to find a spare case. You will just have to search and search and perhaps you will find one someday. For a watch like this, most people would say it is probably better to spend your time and energy looking for a complete example in good condition. Of course, if the uncased dial/movement is in good condition you can buy it as a spare.

I think you best bet is to buy a non running watch on the cheap on ebay. Then swap the movement into the non runner

edit - alternatively, contact paul at electric-watches - maybe he has a spare case?

I wonder if the case is the same as a 166.032 etc. - worst case scenario I assume it would go into one of those, one way or the other

300Hz movements are of some value to 300Hz owners with problematic movements, I wouldn't buy the combo if I were you

How much is it by the way?

It's a good price if it works, I auctioned an 300Hz that didn't keep time, but it looked good, I guess 220 usd was the last bid

If you're not going to buy it, I'd appreciate a link to look at 😁

Well I don't think I'm going to buy it since I can't find a place that has a case available, so here

Price seems high, you made a good decision, as it's not guaranteed to work - day/date ones are rare tho

Edit: Price is high for this kind of a project, but if you had a watch without a stem, and maybe hands etc. - it miight be worth it - other than that, I guess the 300 teeth part has some value, and since this is not tested, that part might be damaged
