I purchased this one the other day for £6000 or $7740 with inner/outer box, history, extract of archives and lovely 1035/506 end link bracelet, I know that is not the norm, just one of those moments in life where you have to be in the right place at the right time.

Thank you, just took it out into the sun and it has some brown hues to the dial too which is nice, not full on tropical but its there.

I mentioned in PM to someone that NO old ladies were robbed in the process! It was a scenario where you expect to talk and possibly buy one watch and then dynamics change, suddenly you have several opportunities presented to you and its either get the wallet out or forever regret you didnt close the deal.

If only every month had a day like that!

Thanks again.

It would be great if you could post a photo of this for prosperity, as based on this info I cannot get the listing - perhaps as it is passed or I am in the wrong country - and ebay wont let us go back for long.

EDIT found it, but using sold listings for Ed Whites, not the number. Ebay like to make it awkward for us

About the most valuable thing on this watch is the extracted movement.

It is worth that

I think that people didn't want a dial that was missing lume.

Or service hands, pushers and crown, DON is a bit ratty too.

Lots of attention has been paid to DON's over the last few years but other original parts must be rising accordingly, What is a naked 321 worth now?

Well there is as much potential nuance and variation in the value of a movement as the whole watch - except 90% of buyers dont appreciate it, let alone look at it, and of the remaining 10% who do look, probably 1% will understand.

A fine clean movement (which this is not) could be worth a lot.

To answer the question, the value is derived from both the condition of the movement, and what the extract says. This particular watch the movement would change hands at $3,000 to $4,000 between knowledgeable people - a willing buyer and a willing seller.

At auction if there is no "Willing buyer" just opportunist collectors like me who will buy anything cheap enough, then It will bid to around $2500 to $3250.

If the extract is for a 145012 then its less, and if the extract is not for a speedmaster, or unobtainable, then its less again.

As a rule of thumb, the bottom value for a 321 movement that is complete, not damaged and able to be serviced to be functional, is $2000.

I have seen 321's missing parts sell on ebay for $1500+ and that was before we could check extracts in 4 days.

Now these figures would be influenced by numbers offered, and if everyone dumped 321's on to ebay tomorrow I think the demand would choke and prices stall.

Thank you for your detailed reply, as I said DON bezels have attracted lots of attention but as you know other parts are now considerable value to replace for originals, what could be a bad watch on the surface could be a valuable parts bin so knowing the costs of original spear chrono hands, small pushers, A1 24 teeth crowns and clean dials etc all adds up.

Personally, I wouldn't like to break up a vintage Speedmaster but a mashed up case or water damaged movement could be a good deal once split for parts.
