Went for a walk with my daughter and when we got back someone ate my apartment had left this by the dumpster. Herman Miller Aeron chair. Missing an arm. Thank you. I used to have one but left it with my ex. Weird thing is I have an extra arm there, just hope it’s the ‘right’ one. Pun intended
Can't beat the original though.
These two fellahs are also dumpster dives.
I found them in front of our local library on our street one evening.
I did some research and found out they date from 1957, which is not so coincidentally the year the library was inaugurated.
They were not in the best of shape as would be expected of a chair being in a public library for 63 years: dirty, legs detached, and lots of chewing gum under the seat. Maybe there was a wad from Whitey Bulger - who grew up in this neighborhood. The library has a whole bunch of these from that year, in several colors too.
I put quite a bit of TLC to get them into the shape your see here but it was worth it IMO.
Well if we're showing dumpster Eames chairs.
Here's mine as well. Had the stock H-base so I threw on a repro rocker. Currently sitting in it now, but with the vintage rolling desk-chair base instead.

BTW I like the little detail lines in your floor. Very retro
That's another story. According to city papers my house dates from 1899. I have been here for over 7 years and always thought it was correct. Well, recently I found a terrific site of online historical maps of Boston with detailed atlases of streets and properties. Curiosity got me so I looked at various old maps and realize the house is shown in the 1899, 1884 and 1874 maps! Since the owner's name is also shown on the maps for each property, I Googled the name and address and found an entry in a city registry of 1870. So the house is actually several decades older than I originally thought.
