Wasn't it easier and cheaper to get it sized in a boutique or AD? It's usually free. Even a random watch dealer wouldn't charge more than the cost of your tools I would guess?

Anyway, looks good! And that math stuff on your desk brings back some nasty memories 😲

Let's say I knew for a fact the watch will get scratches in the process of sizing the bracelet and assuming the AD won't give me a replacement watch because of a small scratch on any of the links/lugs I would prefer to scratch it myself 🤦

I had no idea the amount of math that’s required to adjust a bracelet 😜

What happened to waiting until November before wearing it?👎

Haha good point

I wanted to size it as I knew it could take me a few hours and I don’t know how busy I will be around my birthday.

Also, just an excuse to play with the watch a bit!

like I said, I’m putting it away until November though!

There are no boutiques close to me, and even though the AD said they would size it for free, I trust myself more than I trust AD, though I have made one mistake in sizing a watch before.

haha

That's exactly what I mean. I'm sure it's not rocket science and pretty much everyone could size a bracelet. But as it costs little to no money and it's only a one time thing, I would prefer to spend my (free) time on something else and let a professional take care of it. Instead of going through the process of finding and ordering the right tools and fiddling around with it myself.
I just enjoy working on things to be honest.

I do a lot of the work on my own cars, just for fun.

If I’m being completely honest, I think buying an oil change, and filter for my car is more expensive than paying someone to do it.

But I still enjoy doing it myself

This is why I try to do things myself.

I stopped by the Rolex AD once wearing my 6 month old two tone submariner. The lady said “can I clean that for you real quick?”

“Sure”

then the watch came back with a nasty scratch that I am 95% sure wasn’t there before.

At another time, a sales lady was showing me a Datejust that she said I might be interested in.

She then dropped in on the counter. About a foot or foot and a half drop onto the counter.

She picked it up as if nothing had happened.

After THAT, I try to not let them touch my watches.

Would I regulate a watch by myself?

a Timex or Seiko skx, or Seiko turtle yes!

Anything else, probably not lol

Yes, I enjoy it.

So I take my time and am extra careful. I think I took about two hours last night.
